Hello, my name is Miriel, I am 17 years old and, unfortunately, I am the daughter of the White Witch. Jadis.

Almost everyone fears my mother, even I am I afraid of her sometimes. There's only one person I know of that doesn't fear her, and that would be Aslan. In fact, my mother fears him. The only friend I have is Maugrim, he's a wolf. Most people are scared of me because they think I'm like my mother, I mean I do look a lot like her, but that doesn't mean I'm like her. In fact, I think what she's doing is wrong. I do have powers though, but they're not as strong as my mother's powers, well, that's what she says. I can control ice, which means I can melt ice and snow and freeze water to make ice. I know what you are thinking, if I can melt ice and snow then couldn't I stop this winter? Well I've already tried that and it didn't work. Anyways, enough about me, I think it's time I tell you the story of the time the sons of Adam and the daughters of Eve first came to Narnia.

I was riding my horse, Frost, through the thick forest and snow, when I heard people talking, I heard two boys and two girls. It was rather unusual, since no one wanted to be near the White Witch, so my curiosity got the best of me and I quietly rode closer to them until I could see them. I hid behind the trees so they couldn't see me. One of the girls looked like she was eight or nine, one of the boys looked like he was 12 or 13, and the other two looked like they were around my age. Then I noticed that they weren't centaurs, fauns, dwarves, nymphs, or animals. They….......they were humans! I have never seen a human in Narnian before! That meant the prophecy was coming true. I mean, I would love to end the eternal winter and for my mother's reign to end, but I don't think I would kill my mother to do it. If they killed her, what would happen to me? I kept thinking and I accidentally stepped on a branch causing it to snap. Then, they looked in my direction so I quickly hid behind the tree but Frost rode over to them. What was I going to do?! It obviously wasn't a wild horse because it had a saddle on!

Frost rode over to them and the oldest boy said, "What is a horse doing out here in all of this snow," and the oldest girl said, "It can't be a stray horse since it has a saddle on. Where do you think the rider might be?" I stayed quiet, behind the trees. Then the youngest boy said, "Maybe the rider is over there." He points in my direction then I hear footsteps come in my direction so I come out from behind the tree. " Hello. Sorry about my horse. I…umm…" The older boy chuckles slightly, "It's okay, I'm Peter. This is Susan, Edmund, and Lucy" he motions to the other three. "I...I'm Miriel...." I say, shyly, and the youngest girl, whose name was Lucy, smiled at me and said "Why were you following us?" I didn't know how to reply so I just told them the truth, "Umm...I've just never seen humans in Narnia before." Susan gives me a confused look and says, "Aren't you human?" I shake my head and say "No, I have powers." Lucy smiles widely, like how a child smiles when they receive a present. "What are they? Can I see them?" She says eagerly and I laugh a little and smile, "Sure" I say then I turn my hands into fists in the snow around us melts. The four of them stare at the melted snow in amazement and they're stunned by what I have done. Finally Susan speaks, "How did you do that? It's not possible. How did you get your powers?" I shrug "I was born with it, my mother had similar powers, but she is stronger." "Who is your mother?" Lucy asks me. I decided to tell them "Okay, I'll tell you, but please don't get scared." They all nod and I sigh a little  "My mother is Jadis, also known as the White Witch" Lucy backs up a little and says, "She is the one that kidnapped Mr. Tumnus." The others back away a little. "Lucy, I'm sorry about Mr. Tumnus, but I won't do anything like that. In fact, I don't think it was right for Jadis to do that. Now you must quickly leave before they find you." Then, a beaver comes out of nowhere.

Peter looks at the beaver and kneels down and tries to call it over. I laugh little, because he thinks it's a wild beaver. Peter looks at me, "What are you laughing at?" I don't answer and keep laughing a little. A little later, the beaver stands up and says "What do you expect me to do? Sniff it?" I burst out into more laughter as all of them, except Lucy, back away, surprised that he talked. Lucy also laughs then the beaver holds out a handkerchief and her expressed quickly went from happy to serious "This is the handkerchief I gave to...." "Mr. Tumnus"  The beaver finishes her sentence, then he looks at me and says, "Get get away from her, she's the daughter of the White Witch!" He now seemed angry and I sigh "I'm not like her, please give me a chance." The beaver sighs and reluctantly says, "Fine, but only one chance." I smile a little bit and he starts to lead us to his dam. We walk into a small valley like place and I think it's beautiful. The sun was setting behind the mountains, so the dam and part of the valley was shaded. The only light was coming from the beaver's house and smoke was rising from the inside. Then another beaver comes out, supposedly the beaver's wife. She says "I hope you didn't bring the badgers over because they're......." then she sees Lucy, Peter, Edmund, and Susan, which makes her smile. "Oh those aren't badgers." She says. Then she sees me "You're......you're....." I sigh, "I'm the White Witch's daughter, I know, but I'm not like her." She, unwillingly, let's me inside after Mr. Beaver tells her it's ok and let's the others in and I notice Edmund looking at the mountain, where my mother lives.

We all walk in and sit down, and the wife of the beaver gives us small, wooden plates with fish and some sort of chip, and they start talking about Aslan but I don't hear because I'm lost in thought, then I realize Edmund isn't in the house, then the others notice, and all of us, except the wife of the beaver, go outside to look for him then I realize where he's going "I know where he's going......" Peter looks at me and asks, clearly angry, "Where is he going? I'm gonna kill him." I look at him with a serious expression "I don't think you'll need to kill him. He's going to my mother's castle." We start running towards the castle, but by the time we get there, he's already gone in. "Edmund!" Lucy yells and I quickly cover her mouth with my hand "Shh......we don't want her to catch us." Susan and Peter start fighting, then, unexpectedly, Lucy says "Be quiet! Fighting isn't going to help us get Edmund back!" Then Mr. Beaver says "She's right, the only thing we can do is go to Aslan." I'm a little happy, even though I shouldn't be. I'm finally going to see Aslan. The being that my mother fears. "I wonder what he's like. I wonder what he looks like. Will he think of me as an enemy?" I think to myself, but then I hear Maugrim howl "Run.....run now!" I start running with the others, back to the dam. We run in and lock the doors and I see Mrs. Beaver packing food and Susan says, "Will we need jam?" And Peter says "Only if the Witch likes toast!" Then we run into a hidden tunnel as the wolves start to tear appart the dam. Peter and I are holding torches and the get to a dead end. The beaver's start to climb up so we follow. Once we're outside, we roll a barrel over the entrance and Lucy trips. I look at what she tripped on and see it's a mice family......and they were stone. Then I see Mr. Beaver over at a stone badger and realize that my mother had been here. He looks......sad. "I....I am sorry for my mother's actions........" Then we see an animal. I can't tell if it's a wolf or a fox. Mr. Beaver growls a little and the fox or wolf, I still can't tell, laughs a little "I am on your side, no need to worry." Mr. Beaver is still growling a little. "Well you sure look an awful lot like you're on their's." I notice that he is a fox and really is on our side. "Mr. Beaver, back down, he's telling the truth." The fox smirks a little and we hear the wolves, so we quickly hide up in the trees as the fox stays down, to cause a distraction. The wolves come.....and I see Maugrim.......I'm a little sad as I see one of the wolves bite Maugrim and Lucy gasps, so Peter quickly covers her mouth so they don't hear. He leads them north and they throw him against a tree. Everyone except me climbs down from the tree. Mrs. Beaver starts a fire and tends to the fox's wounds. I stay in the tree and I can barely hear them talking. The fox walks off then Peter climbs up and sits next to me. I stay silent. "We're leaving at dawn. We're heading to see Aslan. You can come if you want. Of course, you don't have to come if you don't wish." I look at him "I want to come. I need to see Aslan." He smiles, as if he's happy I wanted to come. There was something about him, I don't know what, that just made me happy.
