The Illness (HERBAL TEA)

"Morning," Alfie placed a tea onto the coffee table opposite me. I did not feel in the mood for tea.

"I'm dying." I said dramatically. My face that was full of light days before was now pallid as well as bags underneath my eyes and the fact that my eyes were now refusing to focus. Alfie was just a blur.

"Mercy?" Alfie said suddenly as my eyes began to shut again. It was already past lunch time and I had been asleep for a solid fourteen hours. "Mercy, can you hear me? Can you open your eyes? Hey, can I get some help in here!"

"What's up?" Nadia said as she walked into the room, unphased by the shouting.

"She just woke up and said that she was dying and then shut her eyes. What's wrong with her?"

"Get Khan. Go. Now. Hurry!" Nadia shouted, suddenly looking alert. Alfie jumped to his feet but Khan had already heard her and limped into the room.

"What's happening? Is she still sleeping?" Khan asked sharply. Khan raised my arm above my head and dropped it. I couldn't move my hand and instead it fell limply off of the sofa where it had been only seconds before. Why couldn't I move?

"Maybe she's just tired from everything that happened yesterday." Alfie asked.

"Maybe..." Nadia muttered but then spoke up. "Maybe it's something else."

"Like what?" Alfie asked, concerned.

"It looks like she's been dosed, I just don't know what by." Nadia crouched down beside me and began to examine me. I couldn't see but I could hear her every movement and every now and then she would gently lift a limp limb or turn my head in a specific way.

"Black," Nadia gasped as she opened on of my eyes. What was black? Was my eye black? I couldn't see. I heard Nadia take a step back. I didn't quite understand what she said next as it certainly was not in English however by her urgent tone and the sound of her running out of the room it did not leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling.

I felt terrible. I felt like my flesh was burning one minute and the next minute I felt like I just went swimming in the Antarctic sea. My chest hurt badly, almost as if someone had just grabbed my heart and began to squeeze it and wouldn't let go.

That was a long day for everyone. Rico had been put in charge of keeping me at a healthy temperature and this had been a lot of work as I went from burning hot to ice cold every few minutes. Alfie had spent the entire day whispering into my ear even though I couldn't respond. Khan and Nadia, on the other hand, had emptied out the room that was to be my bedroom and then went online to order a bedroom set. I assumed that they just wanted to keep themselves busy and not think about the current situation.

I focused carefully and for some reason I could hear them even though they were not in the room or in any of the surrounding rooms.

"Do you ever think about the Prophesy?" Nadia said abruptly.

"Which one?" Khan responded with a slight sense of anger before taking a deep breath and continuing. "Of course I have. I think about them all the time."

"Then you understand that the likely hood is that the entire prophesy is true and that we're missing important members of our team."

"And who would those members would be?"

"Well, legend says that there's a Guide. Never said a name, a gender or even a species. It could literally be anyone! It also talks about a few others but they barely give any details on them whatsoever." Nadia cried out in frustration.
