chapter 4

    leafpool curled around her kits as a chilly breeze wafted through a gap in the cave wall. "is it good now?" willowpaw featherclans new apprentice asked from the out side of the den. leafpool drowsily lifted her head "no, i see your paw pull the bracken down a bit." leafpool replied licking ravenkits fur backwards as she shivered. fleek trotted up purring "let me help." he meowed pulling the bracken over the gap. leafpool purred as the breeze stopped "thanks you two." she meowed laying her head on her paws.

leafpool woke in the den, feeling a tugging at er paws she stood surprised her kits didn't stir. as she padded out the den a salty tang hit her tongue, I've smelt that to many times as a median cat. she thought racing out the den her paws barley touching the ground. when she reached the clearing she held back a wail as a second scent hi her tongue, dog! and more then one... suddenly hearing a loud thud and a wail of grief she raced towards the river rocks blood making her slip as he neared, please let that be the dogs! as she neared she saw a dark ginger pelt un-moving near the grass along with the grey flecked tail stuck out from the river a hound pinning willow under water while crowfeather hung from a dogs jaws flailing wildly. "no!!" she shrieked     leafpool nearly leap out her fur as a sharp pain seared down her tail. she woke to see jaykit pinning her tail tip playfully while ravenkit and lionkit tackled him "you can't catch that your on featherclan territory!" lionkit yowled while raven kit hulled him off jaykit "get off my brother you lug!" she hissed playfully. leafpool  drug her tail out from under them and padded out the den to get some air, it was just a dream... she thought sighing as she saw crowfeather talking to fleek and willowpaw as they shred a hare. perking her ears she trotted down the cliff face half falling as she missed a step. as she grabbed a mouse for her self she trotted up to them. "hi leafpool!" willowpaw meowed purring as she flicked her towards the cliff. turning her head she sighed as the kits toppled down the cliff playing near the camp entrance. "don't leave camp! crowfeather says he has scented dogs near by." fleek warned them. leafpool stiffened "i need to talk to crowfeather." she meowed her throat tightening with worry willowpaw shrugged as fleek glanced  at her. "we otta do a patrol anyways," meowed willowpaw nodding to fleek as they set off. 

 crowfeather lead her to a shaded corner close enough to see the kits but far eenough away so that they couldn't hear. "is something wrong?" crowfeather asked his gaze half worried half loving. leafpool explained her dream to him as she did crowfeathers gaze grew thought full. "this must be a sign from starclan! i cant believe they still speak to you!!" he meowed licking her face gently "don't worry its only a few sun rises and our kits will be apprenticed and we can start training and bigger patrols." he meowed and leafpool relaxed a little she and crowfeather shared a mouse. 

 "for this day forward untill you earn your warrior names you will be known as lionpaw jaypaw and ravenpaw." crowfeather meowed from on-top the cliff. "willowash you will mentor jaypaw." he meowed and the two cats touched noses. "fleek you will mentor ravenpaw." he meowed and the two cats touched noses. "and last but not least i will mentor lionpaw." he meowed and leafpool called there names holding back a loud purr, they are apprentices now.
