When the bus finally came, I quickly jumped on and almost fell into the lap of my only friend in real life besides my Mom. Yup,I'm that kid.Catherine Violet Andrea Higgs.At only 5'2,16,and her flaming red hair and cool blue eyes,it's no wonder that she was nicknamed"Dynamite",from her looks and personality. But,she was basically my little sister.We met in 5th grade.She was so smart,she had skipped 4th,and because of her last name,was assigned to be my class partner.I also could have skipped a grade,well,actually 2,but I chose to stay behind with my current best friend,a guy named Malcolm Sunner.I later found out he and my girlfriend at the time were a thing,and our friendship ended like that.But,through thick and thin,I had Cat."So,what level are you on yet?"She said,her red curls swishing as her turned her head.She was wearing a Sailor Moon tee,and white shorts that she had doodled all over."Well,currently, I'm a level 36 Nord,but I think I could probably get to level 40 on Skyrim to night if I try hard enough"She playfully punched me in the shoulder"That's the spirit,Kohaku River!"Kohaku River,the nickname she gave me when I dyed my all of my hair blue,and she said it was the exact same shade as Haku,a river spirit from her favorite movie,Spirited Away.When we got to school,it was all I could do to keep my eyes open in advanced calculus. Well,at least Mrs.Harrington isn't going to care if I fall asleep. Maybe I should close my eyes,just for a minute."Hey,River.Wakey-wakey,time for second period."Cat shook me awake."Ugshdn,yeah...I'm up...come on..."I tripped and my bag and fell over blushing,but thankfully Cat was there to help me up
"Gosh River, did you get clumsier?" She giggled,and I pushed her away in a fake huff "Oh,just can it." she laughed again,and we walked to our lockers.
"Oh,look!It's Troye Sivan and Melanie Martinez!" Called out Harris Kinston. Cat blushed.When we were in 6th grade,Cat dyed her hair where one half was black while the other was pale pink,like her celeb girl crush,Melanie Martinez,while I was laughed at for looking sort of like Troye Sivan, a popular singer that happened to be a homosexual.It was Harris's way of calling me gay.I glared"Get off it Harris.You wish you looked like Troye Sivan!"He rolled his eyes "Whatever,fa-" He didn't finish the sentence,because Cat had kneed him hard in the crowned jewels of manhood "Ha!"He laughed" You need a girl to protect you,don't you Troye!"The rest of the kids laughed with him,while me and Cat left the semicircle that had formed around us"Don't listen to him Morgan..."Cat only used my real name when she knew I was really upset"I-it....it's ok Cat....I-i have to get to class"I tore away from her grasp,and hid out in the boys bathroom until third period.
