"Hello everyone!", I said as I walked inside the TV station.
"Hey, Amber", a couple of my colleges said and waved at me.
I work as a TV host. My show's about the celebrity lifestyle and I love my job. I've always wanted to do this and had a thing fir journalism. My extrovert nature always indicated I'd be doing some kind of a public job. And this is exactly where I could picture myself. Surrounded by amazing, ambitious, successful and incredible people. I have the opportunity to talk to everyone from singers, actors, politicians, activists, to sudden internet sensations, Thanks to my insightful nature I tend to find the potential rising stars myself and I like to research the Internet to find people who're likely to change the world with their talents, ideas, jobs... but that's another part of my work.
Today, I'm supposed to have Rihanna on my show, and I can't wait to talk to her.
"Hey, Ashley, is Rihanna here yet? I want to greet her before we start the show?", I asked my assistant. She's the best person in the world. I swear I could't do half the things without Ashley. She's a lifesaver 90% of the time.
"She's running a bit late. Apparently she's got some flu, but she should be here in 10-15 minutes."
"OK, I'll be in my dressing room. Call me when she arrives."
"Will do, Amber"
Fortunately the show isn't about to start for another hour. We were going live, and I always came in at least an hour earlier in case anything unexpected happened.
I've been in my dressing room for the next half an hour getting my make-up and hair ready for the show, when suddenly Ashley came rushing in completely upset.
"Amber, we have a HUGE problem!"
I looked her in the mirror and laughed, because she looked ridiculous all panicking. I've never seen her like that before. It's completely unlike her to act the way she did right now.
"Relax, kid. Breathe! What's up."I asked and looked her in the mirror as I was sitting and letting my hairstylist do his magic.
"Rihanna JUST CANCELED! She can't get out of the bed, the flu got her tied to the bed.And we're about to start the show in 30 fucking minutes!"
"What???" I jumped out of the chair and started pacing through the dressing room. "OK, let's just not panic. We'll handle this."
"I know we have to take care of it, but who are we supposed to find in half ab hour? There's no way in hell someone's avail;able in the last minute. I can't believe her assistance wouldn't call us and cancel earlier. They knew how bad she was feeling, good thing they didn't wait 30 seconds until the...", Ashley suddenly stopped talking and looked a me with a baffled look.
"What? What's wrong?", I asked in shock.
"I'm a freaking genius.I expect a huge raise after this, just so you know", Ashley said and smirked at me. Then she left my dressing room running and dialing someone's number.
"Wait... what... who're you calli...?" I stopped and turned around once she slammed the door after her."I swear this girl is unbelievable"
I started to scroll through my Facebook news feed to calm down and see if maybe I could think of someone to call in case Ashley couldn't handle it. Five minutes later my make-up and hair prep were done, so I got out of my dressing room and started to look for Ashley everywhere. Of course, she was nowhere to be found which gave me the biggest anxiety ever. I was never the one to stress out easily, but his time my job was definitely on the line and I left it to my assistant to take care of it. Not good!
