One Night Stands

"Nicholas, come here. im not finished " I said to my son as a chased him around the apartment with his uniform pants in my hands.

We were already late for school, as usual. But today i had to get him in as fast as i could before he missed the bus to his field trip.

"Mommy, we are going to the zoooooo " He screamed "are you coming too?" He asked

"No silly, i have work remember, but if you dont get dressed now you wont either"

With that, he let me finish dressing him, pack his lunch, and then we were on our way to his preschool. We reached just in time, the children were boarding the bus with their cute lunch boxes and huge smiles .

"mommy, mommy. Thats Joseph he's my best best best friend" he said as i picked him out of his car seat and practically ran with him to the bus .

I said hello to his teachers and the chaperoning parents and kissed my baby boy good bye.
I headed to work while my son headed to the zoo, wishing i was with him. Its only been me and him for 2 years now after my mom died. I mean of course i have friends, a few. But none family. Oh and Nicholas's father isn't in the picture either, its a long story. My mom was the one helping me when he was first born but she was pretty sick so her death wasn't a surprise. I knew i had to learn everything from her before it was to late. I tried to brush the thoughts out of my mind because i knew i could go on forever but id be even more late for work than i already am.

I work as a nurse,well I'm going to go to school to become a doctor when Nicholas gets a little older but for now a nurse is fine. When i finally get to the hospital i see maria one of my co-workers run my way

" thank god your here, if you cant tell we are pretty packed right now so i need your help in room 34G " she handed me the patients file and looked at me for approval while i looked over their file .
"But this is an adult, I'm childcare remember?"
"Yes but you've done it before and we need the help"
"Fine." I really didn't like working with adults, I'm not sure why i just like healing kids more.

I put my stuff down behind the front desk and made my way to the elevators. Elevators are extremly awkward when theres a old lady, a teen, and overly angry man on the phone. But thankfully the floor i was going to way only a few seconds ride. Soon the elevators opened and i along with the old woman and teen got off. On my way to 34G i saw i glimpse of a really familiar face. Hopefully he's not who i think he is.

~ ugh shorter than i wished but this is the first chapter of my first attempt to write a story.
