My jaw drops open as far as it will go. I can't believe it. I.........I was there. I watched them die.

"But I walked in the door and.....and found them on the floor."

"It is a huge ordeal for a 15 year old boy to go through."

"Yah think!"

I wait for anything else. No more information follows. So I turn on my heels and run straight out the back door to the forest.

1 WEEK LATER

------------------------

I can't believe it. No one in the whole town will tell me why my parents died. No one. This really sucks. I start to walk home from the forest, kicking the pebbles as I go. Why! Oof. I stumble backwards and into a tree on the side of the road. I look up only to see that it is a man. I swear I have seen him before but I can't put my finger on it.

"Hello. Who might you be?"

I just stand there, not knowing whether he is a spy or not..

"It is ok. I am not a spy. I knew your parents Jake."

I look up. How does he know my name?

"Follow me. By the way, I am Josh."

I follow Josh down the road. I can't believe he knew my parents.. He could be lying. He could be a spy for the government or he actually knew my parents. We arrive at an abandoned house that is half burnt and crumbling down. Josh turns to me.

"Quick, we don't have much time. I can tell you how your parents died."

"Ok then, tell me."

"A long time ago...... Nah I'm just joking. Before you were born, Our old government was overthrown by the present government now. The only problem is that the people, that's us, suffered for it. They put our taxes up, gave us less resources and left us to fend for ourselves. Then your parents came along and formed a resistence, a rebel alliance. They acted in secret and defied the government repeatedly by ignoring the rules, helping out and literally attacking them. This went on for many years until the government found out. They found your parents and killed them. They are now hunting down the rest of the alliance."

"Who was the leader?"

"I.....I can't tell."

I raise my eyebrow.

"Fine. Your parents were not the leaders but they became the leaders after the death of the leader, in their will, they left the position open to you."

"Cool. Where do I sign up."

"WHAT! THEY ARE HUNTING THE ALLIANCE DOWN. GET A GRIP BOY."

"Cool. Where do I sign up."

"Look. If they wanted you there, they would have communicated with you."

"Ok. Thank You. If there is anything I can do for you, just ask."

"Ok. See you later."

We start to depart.

"Wait!"

Josh waits.

"Why don't I remember anything about when they died. It was only a few months ago."

He turns and runs. Well I guess he didn't want to share. I start to head back to the orphange. I get in, walk through the gates, shut them behind me and go straight to my bedroom. There is a tree branch. The tree branch of a dagger tree. I know where that is. I get my jumper and pull on my black sneakers. I climb out the window into the gathering dusk and head to the dagger tree in the forest.
