When we lose someone, in stories, and movies it always rains. The raindrops fall on the pavement in a rhythmic pattern, that perfectly matches your heart beat. It isn't like that in real life. It's sunny outside, and my body welcomes the warmth, but my soul doesn't. It's not right, it shouldn't be sunny, there shouldn't be happy buzzing coming from the streets, not if Ria isn't here. My body shouldn't love this weather, but rather, it should be wincing because of the thunders, yet it is.
Ria loved-- loves the sun. She likes skipping on the grass and waving at passing cars, she likes doing weird choreographies on the sidewalk, and she likes people laughing even if it is at her own expense. Well, she did. Then she left.
Imagine waking up one morning only to get a call from your best friend's mother, your "Auntie" calling to tell you that her daughter, your sister has disappeared. Imagine hearing her choking on her sobs, imagine her telling you they've called the cops but there seem to be no clues, that it doesn't seem like someone took her. She left because she wanted to, because she could.
And that's what shatters you. She left you willingly, she had a choice and she chose to go, and she never gave you a single sign she would. There wasn't a last night like Margo and Quentin, where you went around taking revenge on the people who'd wronged you, or had the air of joyful rebellion tearing through your chest. She just left.
A rough shaking violently brings me out of those thoughts, and I hear my mother say "It's been two weeks, she isn't coming back sweetie. You need to learn to live without her, come now."
"Mom, I need to find her." I say continuing to stare out the window.
"This is real life Allie, she left you, and she chose to. You need to accept it." she says in what she thinks is a convincing voice.
When, like always I don't respond, she leaves, like she always does with a long sigh. And I, continue to think and forge a way to find myself, by finding her-- Ria Preet.
Hi guys-- this is a really short chapter, but I just really wanted to write something! So behold Chapter 1 of Finding Her. Trust me, it gets better as it goes, or at least I'll try to make it so. Thanks for reading, remember to vote, and all feedback is appreciated, thanks! Dedicated to Cammy for being the littest, bestest friend on the block of the world.
