The Other Swan [1]

Today's the day I thought as I brought my two bags out of the house and put them into the trunk. I look up at the house I've lived in for years and sigh before hopping into the back seat. Soon enough, mom and Bella hop in too and we drive to the airport.

When we get there and get our tickets, mom turns to us. She smiles and hugs us before saying our goodbyes and we board the plane. Bella and I had seat that were together so I got inside and she got isle. Once we were seated she turned to me.

"You ready Katie?" She said with a hint of concern. She knew I hated planes and was afraid of heights.

I timidly nod my head, sending her a small smile which she returned. As the plane took off I grasped her hand and squeezed. I kept hold of her hand the whole trip before resting my head on her shoulder and drifting to sleep.

I woke up to a hand shaking my shoulder. I groggily look up at Bella before picking up my head and yawning.

"How long was I out?" I ask.

"About the whole ride. We need to get off now."

I nod then we made our way off the plane with our bags. We walk towards the exit of the airport when I saw a man with dark brown hair and a matching mustache. I smile and run towards him.

"DAD!" I yelled before jumping into his arms. His deep chuckle vibrated through his chest as he wrapped his arm around me, hugging me back. When I release Bella goes in for an awkward side hug that almost made me laugh.

You see, Bella was always a mommas' girl while I was a Papas' girl, even if I had only met him for a few months when I was nine and Bella was thirteen. Dad always was my kind of fun and the people in Forks were way better than the people in Arizona.

Dad led us to his police cruiser,where we put our bags before getting in, Bella and dad in the front and myself in the back. Dad tried to make conversation with Bella but It would quickly turn awkward. We reached the house in no time thankfully and got out. Dad led us to our rooms, Bella's and dads on one end of the top floor and mine on the other end, facing directly towards the forest.

I looked around the room to see it was redecorated and could tell that Jake had something to do with it. He was my best friend even when I was in Arizona, we kept in touch.

I smile at the room before flopping down on the bed. I sigh but get up and look at the small bay window. The forest in Forks was so beautiful. Especially with the cloudy sky making the green look even greener.

I was snapped out of my trance by a knock at my door. I look over to see my dad before he spoke.

"Hey kiddo. Do you like your room? And I know you just got up here but there are some people here to see ya. "

"It's awesome dad thank you. Who's here?"

He smiled before speaking " why don't you go out there and see?"

We both laugh before I walk down and outside. When I get there I see Bella with Jake and Billy. Upon seeing them I rush over to Jake and give him a big hug. He stumbled a little before laughing and hugging back. When we let go, I go and hug Billy before pulling away and looking at Jake.

"It's nice to see you too Kate. Do you like your room? Charlie said that he needed some help. "

"I love it. Thanks Jake. I miss you and you too Billy. Wanna go for a run later? I can barely contain myself from the forest right now. "

We all five laughed before he nodded. That's when he and Billy bring Bella over to Billy's orange pickup truck. Turns out they gave it to her. Then Billy and dad started to horseplay while were Bella and Jake talking, I go back up to my room. I close the door before hopping onto my bed.

I laid there for about an hour before getting back up and unpacking my two bags. Filling my backpack up with school stuff for tomorrow then got changed into sweatpants and a long sleeved shirt. I was about to leave my bathroom that was attached to the bedroom when I saw the little silver blade in my bathroom pouch. I contemplated for a couple moments then gave in and reached for it. I roll up my sleeves to reveal the other white scars and added about four more on each arm, I also added a few on my waist were most of the scars were placed. I wiped the blood off before pulling everything back down and walking out into my room.

I walked over to the bay window to see the forest looked dark and mysterious yet strangely beautiful and calming. When I'm in the forest I felt calm and comfortable. Plus the cold weather made me feel even better. It just felt right. Unlike being in Arizona where it was dry sand, cactuses and blazing sun that made everything feel miserable. Here there were lightning bugs weaving through the trees and the moon shines brightly through the clouds.

Diverting my gaze away from the forest I walk over to my bed and get in. I rapped my arms and legs around my long purple pillow before drifting to sleep for the second time today.
