Chapter 1: words and blood.
I woke up. I was drenched in sweat, my face was dirty. Blood fell into my eye from the corner of my forehead. The sky span and the earth vibrated slowly. The motion made me sick to the stomach and the sound flooded my ears. It was all I could think about until I tried to move. Pain erupted from my arm, I screamed and looked over. A tree had crushed my arm. I tried and tried but all I gained was pain. I couldn't move.
Sometime later my head cleared and the ringing in my ears faded into the silence of the forest. Finally I could observe my surroundings. My manoeuvre gear was rusted and out of gas.
Survey corps rule 78: when beyond the wall if your gear breaks your dead.
I wasn't dead yet but I had a feeling I would be soon. I looked around for my horse but all I saw were the trees towering over me. I went from rule 1 to 100 and all I could gather was that I was meant to be dead. I lay down and took a deep breath. I was alone and immobile, the last thing I wanted was to panic. I laid there in my bed of grass until the captains words came back to me. "Titans are mindless, they can't think about anything but the kill. That means they can't hear when there not alerted so when separated you call for me".
The words had barely even entered my mind before my lungs erupted. "HHHEEELLPP!!!" "PLEASE ANYONE HHHEEELLLPP!!!" I went to call out again but my words were cut short by a rhythmic thud coming from beyond the trees. I knew the sound well; it was a titan, from the sound of the shambling footsteps it was a 15 meter class. I knew it couldn't hear me so I kept yelling. "SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!" my throat was sore, and it was clear that no one was coming. So I laid there. I was deadly still, I couldn't fight the only thing I could do was hope it wouldn't notice me.
The thuds got louder and louder and staying calm became increasingly difficult. After a second that felt like a lifetime I lost my cool and went to scream one last time.
But as I did my words were cut short. My heart stopped, my body trembled and 3 words echoed through the forest and stole my breath,
"..There you are.."
