•Chapter One
Allison's POV
Hugs and tears is not what I was expecting to happen at this moment. I knew saying goodbye was going to be hard but not this hard. Going off to college in another country feels like it's going to be a struggle, but I need to look at the positive side and enjoy the wonderful experience I will receive.
"Bye, I love you. Just know I'm a call away if you ever need to talk honey. Have a good flight, and call me when you land!" are the shaking words I hear from my mothers mouth.
"I love you too." I rephrase back to her before I pick up my carry on and head towards the flight attendant, taking tickets. I put a cheesy smile on my face and give a slight wave to my parents before turning my back to them and boarding the airline.
"Our little girl has grown up so fast." my father mentions to my mom.
He hasn't really said anything to me since we've arrived at the airport. I think this is more hard for him to deal with than my mom, I've always been daddy's little girl. And now "daddy's little girl" will be on the other side of the world. I know he's really proud of me for receiving a scholarship to study in Ireland. But I also know he's disappointed for not having me around much anymore.
I feel the need to take a glance over my shoulder to see my parents whom I won't see for a long time. By the time I peek behind me, they're already walking away, hand in hand, with my moms head on my dads shoulder. They look so hurt and broken which I don't understand why...
My thoughts are suddenly interrupted a flight attendant, "Mam, uhm, would you please board the flight. Were taking off in eight minutes."
"Oh yes! I'm so-orrrry." I stutter back to the flight attendant. He's actually not that bad looking.
"May I help you find your seat?" he questions.
I had to take the offer, no was not an answer. I replied back with a simple, "yes, please."
Not too long after that he had shown me where my seat was, lucky for me I had a window seat. It's nice seeing everything below you look so beautiful yet very little. I've been in planes before, but they were for short trips to New York and California. I've never been over seas so it'll be interesting seeing complete water for hours ahead.
The flight attendant had asked to help me put my carry on in the storage compartment above my seat. I was having trouble getting it to fit up there, maybe because I could barely reach it and I was standing on the tips of my toes.
I didn't realize I didn't answer back to him but he had taken over the baggage from me and forced it into the compartment. I was in desperate need to know his name, so when he closed the compartment and checked to make sure it locked properly I rushed out the words and asked, "What's your name!"
He responded back to me "Harry."
I've never heard that name before, but it was cute. "Uhm thank you, Harry, but you didn't have to do that."
He interrupted, "It's my job, and you're welcome mam." finishing his sentence with a light smile.
"Allison, my name is Allison." I correct him from using the 'mam' on me, I cannot stand when people call me that.
"Well Allison, it was my pleasure." Harry finishes before the speaker ding went off.
"Hello passengers, I hope you're all having a wonderful day. May I ask you to please find your seats and buckle your seat belts, we will be taking off in about two minutes. Thank you, and enjoy your flight." a female voice had assured the passengers.
"Well, Allison, that's my cue to leave, you better get seated and buckled up. Enjoy your flight and the wonderful view from your seat." he walks away before I can even reply to him.
I take his somewhat of command and take my seat. The seats on this airplane are very nice, I guess that's a plus for having first class seating.
An announcer comes over the intercom once again, "It's take off time, if you need anything, ask, enjoy your flight."
Suddenly you can feel the wheels of the airplane lifting up and going off into the sky at an angle. I rest my head back into my seat and close my eyes. My thoughts go back to my parents, my friends, and my family. I wonder if we will keep in touch as much as I wish. Like talking to each other everyday or if it'll be like one of those once a week check up calls. I'm worrying if I'm ready to be on my own in a different country where I don't know one single person. Is this the right thing to do? Should I have accepted the scholarship?
Why do I want to think that? Of course I should have accepted the scholarship, maybe I don't know anyone there now, but I'm hoping to make some friend. This is a wonderful experience for me and I couldn't be even more proud of myself for getting to where I am today.
I feel so uncomfortable, these seats are nice and all, but sitting in it for another 10 hours is going to be terrible. This has been a very stressful week getting my things packed and getting things ready for my arrival, the most I've slept was probably for 5 hours. This could be a wonderful time to try and sleep my way through the flight till we arrive in Dublin, where the plane will be landing.
I pull the little box open from the seat in front of me, that holds a neck pillow, blanket, 2 water bottles and a few things of snacks. I decide to get a hold of the blanket from and place the blanket over the top of me. I exhale a deep breathe after getting myself situated into a position where I feel comfortable enough to try and sleep in for 10 hours. I finally then feel relaxed enough to doze off into a soft slumber.
*Im not really sure what I'm doing yet, but I'm so excited to write this book. My friends have told me they're also excited to read it. I will try to update as much as I can and as soon as I can. I hope you all enjoy it and the next chapter will be up soon!!* -julia
