Tycho's eyes snapped open and he shivered as an unshakable feeling of pure dread and mind blanking panic suffused his entire self. He floated off the small bed and rushed to the wall separating his and Diana's room. With a minor release of effort he stopped making himself tangible and stuck his head through the wall. Her soft rhythmic breathing was just barely perceptible over the low hum of the heating system. He sighed deeply and returned to his own room. He willed himself to become physical once more and drifted over to the bed, sitting down upon it heavily.

At least, he imagined it to be heavily. He actually weighed nearly nothing and the bed didn't even creak as he slipped down to its surface, but it's how it would have acted were he human, so that's what he liked to expect. He fell backwards on the covers and closed his eyes.

Another nightmare. It wasn't an unusual occurrence, especially if he hadn't eaten in a while. They were always so startlingly lucid and realistic, however.  He always believed it to be true until the second he woke up.  He still saw the image in the forefront of his mind. The sound of the door being shattered in the middle of the night, the horror of rushing out his room to see operatives from the island holding a gun to Diana's head. The disgustingly appetizing way her own fear felt.  Her pink eyes, full of tears suddenly going blank.  The warmth of her blood as it sprayed all over his body.

It was all so real. He shuddered and stood, moving towards the wall once again. There was no point trying to get any sleep alone anymore. It would just be another hideous series of visions due to his hunger.  He drifted through the wall and over to Diana's bed. She was on her side and cuddling with her favorite stuffed Eevee. The side of his lips quirked up and he lay down behind her,  he wrapped a hand around the eevee plush and the other atop her shoulder, careful not to wake her. As he touched her he felt a familiar sense of peace overcome him, at the same time, he felt a piece of her consciousness latch onto his own.

He closed his eyes, basking in comfort of her presence.  Her influence on him was palpable, she was an island on the turbulent sea. A safe place for him to rest when he grew weary.  Without Diana, Tycho would have gone insane or died years ago. He pulled her consciousness closer to them and felt her shift slightly in his arms. He smiled, glad that she was back. She told him that without him, she was in danger of simply drifting off into the ether, her mind lost forever inside its own creations.

So there they lay, two monsters who couldn't live without the other. In the early stages of their relationship, Tycho was somewhat sour of the arrangement. He often wished that Mina had been infused with Cresselia's DNA instead of Groudon's.  He still remembered what she said when he first told her about Diana and how he was finally able to get a peaceful night's sleep when with her.

"D'aww. Young love. Isn't that just so kah-yooot!"

Those words haunted Tycho for months, and even now he could still feel his mind stumbling along, trying to piece together a sentence that denied it that consisted of more than just monosyllabic grunts in a negative tone.

He still felt something for Mina, that was certain, but Diana was here. And she needed him just as much as he needed her... And to be honest, he'd grown to like her. They knew each other in ways that other people just couldn't. It wasn't romantic, and it might never be, but Tycho felt like he would be content living with her for the rest of his life.

She was basically what he would consider a soul mate. He felt her shift slightly in his arms and he held her tighter, planting a small kiss on the back of her head. He then closed his eyes and allowed himself to drift into peaceful sleep.
