"Jess? Jessica!"

My name is being urgently called from behind me but my attention stays on the majestic waves crashing along the beach in front of me.

A boy comes up running up from behind me to lean up against a rail in front of us, separating us from the sand on the beach. He brushes his arm against mine, trying to grab my attention, then insists, "What are you doing out here Jess? Everyone has been looking for you."

I turn to Eric, "I just needed to get away for a little while. It drives me crazy being stuck in that tiny house with so many people all day. I needed some air."

"Well people were worried that something had happened to you."

"No, I just wanted to come look at this marvelous scene." I tell him with a smile as I gesture to the wonderful waves and sand in front of us.

"It is beautiful." Eric turned and looked out at the crystal clear water crashing over the rocks. "I wish we could go out there."

I shrug and smile, "Who says we can't?"

"Jess, it's forty degrees out, the water will be freezing."

I grab his arm and pull him towards the water, "Come onnnn! Live a little." Then I duck under the railing blocking us from the beach. "It'll be fun! Then we can go right back to the house."

He sighs then follows my lead by ducking under the railing and walking towards the water. I slide off my jacket and drop it in the sand, then do the same with my shoes, as does Eric. Then I grab Eric's hand and pull him towards the water. "Come on!"

"I'm coming, I'm coming!" he laughs.

We both plunge into the water as one giant wave of seawater crashes over our heads. We swim, we talk, and we splash for hours. Then the temperature begins to drop, as does the sun, and Eric puts his arms around me. We whisper a few words back and forth before finally kissing, and time stood still.
