Before They Knew It
Charmain looked down and hid her smile as Alpha Simon hushed the pack members when reporting they were getting visitors. It wasn't because she was excited for the visitors but because she was mind linked by Terrance to meet him right after the meeting.
The pack members started to get very excited, the scents of the other members around her though started to irritate her seeing they were all too close together. She moved out from where she had been standing when the others surrounded her.
She was on the edge of the crowd when they were all told the females were all getting birth control shots. Yeah she thought, the smells from the females were the reason as the majority of the she-wolves were sexually active, not waiting for their true mates.
She looked up at the stage, crossing her arms when warriors moved in and around her. She looked off the stage frowning as a few of the visitors were moving up on stage.
She frowned as one person looked very familiar. She waited until they were introduced to figure it out how she knew him as she had been a member of this pack since she was around 5 yrs old.
When they said he was Beta Gordon Massey, she frowned even more. Massey had been her mother Grace's maiden name before she met and mated to her true mate Charlie Redmond. Her parents had died when she was 10, she had never known any of her parent's families were still alive.
Titled next Beta Gordon looked around to be 21, so he was 4 years or so older than her. She wracked her brain looking between the two men, the other being the current Beta Jack Massey.
She listened as the visitors were training the pack, the teens between 16 and 20. When Alpha Simon was done, she mind linked Terrance and said give her a minute, she needed to talk to the next Beta Gordon.
Terrance jumped off the stage and headed straight for her, waves of scents from the pack females were off the chart. She looked at him and seeing him upset she said through the link that her mother's maiden name was Massey.
His face totally calmed, making her grunt softly. He took her hand and thanked the warriors before taking her up on stage as everyone was talking.
Charmain approached Gordon and stopped in front of him as Terrance grunted keeping the warriors from allowing the pack from coming up. Beta Jack snorted just looking at her, Charmain snorted back and said Gordon?
He looked at her, and said yes, who are you? She asked do I look familiar to you? He crossed his arms and stepped back before he said nope, not at all. She said well you look very familiar to me, not your father though which is strange.
He held out his hand, making Terrance stiffen. She said no worries Terry. Gordon, I'm not your true mate so quit freaking out. He huffed and sighed before she put her hand in Gordon's. He frowned and said not mate but something else.
She said yeah. Jack grunted and asked what son? She held her hand out to Jack, who took her hand and froze, before he lifted it to his nose and sniffed. He looked at his son who shrugged and she said my name is Charmain Redmond.
From their faces you could see the name meant nothing. She huffed and said my mother's name at birth was Grace Massey. Both swore, Gordon grabbed her hand back and said cousin Charm, dad.
Jack moved over and bent to talk in her ear and asked you are my niece? She said if Grace was your sister then yes. So Gordon, I've been in this pack for 11 years but your face is one that I recognize. Jack moved Gordon aside and confronting her asked where is my sister Charmain?
Charmain sighed and said both my parents are gone, they were both taken in a way by rogues. My father Charlie was taken down doing border patrol and my mother soon after seeing as he was her true mate. They were talking through their mind link when dad went down so my mother felt everything and she collapsed. She tried saving him through their bond but she used too much of herself and he was hurt too badly for saving. In the end, my mother collapsed and slipped into a coma and died days after.
