I stood in the crowd of people, my hood was up to hide who I was. The leader of the Shadows. I was wanted. Every single one of my friends, my comrades, my siblings, they are all wanted alongside me, but I wasn't going to let them be caught. I'd sooner die than let that happen. I only came into town so I could find my friend, my lover. He was the one who had been keeping me stable, who turned himself in so I could get away with the group of orphans.

I look around before I hear horns, my eyes turned and looked to the stage. As I looked at the stage I could see the King and Queen sitting. The King looked as smug as ever and the queen seemed timid and small. Everyone knew the truth, how the king would beat her, how he saw her as his property. I balled my fist and gritted my teeth together, I remained where I was as I waited for the speaker to speak.

"Ladies and gentleman, you will now see a hanging of the last 3 captured." I breathed out, they may say last captured, but because of the courts and such it's normally a captured person for 4 months ago. I let out a breath, Victor was captured only 2 days ago, so I knew I had time. Though I was planning on getting him now, alongside anyone else I could.

I turned around to head down to the tunnels when I heard, "Victor Ghost, Second in command of shadows." I froze and slowly turned around. I watched as guards pulled him up the stairs, he had cuts on his face. He looked bloody and beaten. I sucked in a breath and I felt a ball in my throat. I took a step forward, reaching out a hand. "N-no..."

"Any last words?" the king's cold hard voice spoke. Victor smiled, his warm smile. The one I had come to love so much. He looked over the crowd and took a breath. "I love Rachel, and the shadows will win this war! We will free these people and our land will not see any more blood shed!" Some cheered and other booed. The king waved his bored hand.

A rope was put around Victor's next and the executor went over the lever. I started to run through the crowd when Gavin grabbed me. "No-" I started to yell when Gavin covered my lips. He started to tug me back. "This is the king's plan, to pull you out. I'm sorry." he swallowed, "Victor knew what was going to happen. He asked me to do this." I felt tears run down my cheeks and the ball full my throat even more. I tried to fight him as he dragged me away.

But even as he pulled me away I watched the stage, everything seemed to be in slow motion as Gavin dragged me away and I watched as the lever was pulled at Victor fell through the stage, before his body became stiff. And my heart was shattered.
