Chapter Ten

(Y/n) POV

"Yoichi?"

The small boy looked at me with fear. He had red puffy eyes that worried me and and slight frown. I didn't want him to be here. For all I know he will go on a rage since there was a specific vampire here. Fear washed over my trembling form for Yoichi.

"Your focus is on me (Y/n)!"

I turned back to the stern voice of Krul. My eyes lit up with a plan. If I kept his attention on me maybe he wouldn't notice the vampire. The description of how the vampire looked like still fresh in my mind.

Lacus...

My mind searched for the vampire. I found his mane of pure purple in no time.

Guard duty

It seemed he was guarding the entry way to the duel grounds. I sighed.

"This is harder than I thought..."

I turned back to Krul and smirked.

"I'm ready."

She scoffed.

"Very well. We shall begin."

We both got in our battle stance ready for whatever came from each side.

"Begin!"

Krul crashed down on me making me tumble back. She swiftly took a hit to my abdomen making me fly back and hit the ground with force. I jumped up hurriedly and ran towards her small figure. Pulling my first set of weapons out I prepared to launch my first move.

I jumped over her unsuspecting figure and threw my first throwing knife. It took a nice clean scratch to her cheek making her screech from the buring sensation of a cursed weapon.

"You bitch..."

She growled and snarled as she pounced on me. My face grew grim as I saw her sharp nails. My eyes widened as I felt the pulsing pain of her stabbing my arm harshly. I screamed kicking her off and pushing my body up using as much strength as I had left. I already felt the guilt eating me away for accepting the duel without even sensing her true power. I grasped my bloody arm taking off the known useless armor.

"Just call it off."

I looked up at Krul. I tilted my head confused why she was allowing me to call it off.

"Call it off already stupid human!"

I looked down. I accepted this challenge. I wanted it. I wanted to prove my strength to everybody. How could I do it if my cursed weapon wasn't working though?

"Think like a demon."

I turned my head around confused. No one else was nearby... So who was that?

"You waited long enough for me to speak to you."

My heart pounded in realization. Was this the very demon that I waited for to speak to me? To share the secret of my weapon and its origin?

"You must not lose sight of your enemy. Use me. Use my full power and soon I'll show you the hidden treasure that you seek."

I pulled my bow over my shoulder and examined it. This must be it. What I've been waiting for. Power struck me like lightning. I was motivated to win. I had to.

I looked up. My eyes only focused on the pink haired girl. I pulled the quiver back as she started to race towards me. My heart pounded against my chest as I felt the new rage run through my blood.

My blood went cold.
