08 ~ The Man Behind the Picture

We're feeding the animals and prepare everything for the night that's about to fall. After all, it's been a long exhausting day. It even gave me a headache. Nadine strangely was very quiet too. 'Nadine?' She startles and cringes a little. What the hell? She looks at me. 'What's up?' 'Everything will be alright. Don't worry about it' she mumbles. I frown while she continues feeding the pigs. I sigh. 'I'll get us some water,' without waiting for her to confirm that she heard me, I walk to the lake. I look at it. Quiet and peaceful. 'What do I have to fucking do!' I scream out of frustration. 'Bloody hell!' A male voice yells back. I startle and look around me. 'w-who said that?' No answer. I guess I'm going insane. I quickly fill a bucket with water and walk back to our house.'

Me and Nadine just had dinner. Water with a little piece of bread. That's all we had. Now we're sitting on the bed. Talking. 'Is Rumpelstiltskin with you at the moment?' I hum. 'No. I haven't seen him yet this evening. Before he disappeared he told me that he was going to do stuff,' 'stuff?' I roll my eyeballs. 'Don't tell me I'm crazy now. You've seen him too!' 'Within a flash. That doesn't prove anything.' 'For god sake Angel!' Nadine starts screaming. But immediately shuts her mouth. She knows we're both not in the mood for a discussion. I change the topic. 'I heard a voice at the lake.' 'What did it say?' 'Bloody hell' Nadine frowns. 'Weird, maybe it was just your imagination. I mean. A lot of shit happened today' 'I guess so. Maybe it best to get some sleep,' Nadine nods. 'Sleep tight, Angel' Nadine stands up and walks to her room. Not long after. I hear her scream. 'Jesus christ, dude!' 'Nadine? Are you okay?' 'Y-yeah. It was just a bird that made me startle' I don't believe a single word she is saying. Suddenly, I hear her talking again. 'She told me about this voice at the lake.' I roll my eyes. Oh for god sake. 'Bloody-.. yes! That! Was it.. him?' Her voice quivers. I frown and shake my head. Well, she'll deal with it herself anyway. I lay my head on my pillow and close my eyes. Time to sleep and forget about this day.

Days went by and everything seemed to be back to normal. Nadine stopped talking to the frigging air and I didn't hear voices anymore. We also sold a lot of products to the rich, so we bought food and a new bed for Nadine. Which we were now working on. 'And the last nail.. yes! There we go!' I yell happy. Nadine was clapping her hands like a happy little child. 'At last! All we need to do now is repairing the roof before the winter falls,' 'easy you! Spring has just sprung! We will repair the roof in the summer. When we sold more of our products' she nods and shakes her butt. I grin. 'Let's try out this bed then, shall we?' She takes a dive and thuds on the bed, laughing. 'God it's so good,' she moans. Digging herself into the bed. I grin and thud next to her. 'If you snore that loud again, I'll push you out of your bed.' 'You wouldn't dare!' 'Try me!' We both start to laugh. Suddenly I feel something in my pocket. 'What's up? You look so startled?' I put my hand in my pocket and look at the folded polaroid I pull out. 'Somehow, this ended up in my pocket? I didn't put It there myself?' I unfold the polaroid and stare at the picture of a man**1 - 'I don't know who that Is, but I do know that he is very freaking hot!' Nadine bursts out laughing. She knows I'm not the kind of woman that quite enjoys the company of boys. 'Dream on, girl' Nadine grins. I look up. Offended. 'Jesus! Freaking stop that! How many times have I told you not to appear like that! It startles me!' I look up again. Confused this time. Nadine was looking up. Oh god. Our friend Rumpelstiltskin is back. 'God Angel!' Nadine suddenly yells excited. I frown at her. 'That man' she says. Pointing at the polaroid, 'is Captain Hook. Back at the enchanted forest!' I look at the polaroid. Confused. 'Is this picture real?' She nods. 'Rumpelstiltskin told me that he took it and put it in your pocket,' I nod. That makes sense. I glare at the polaroid again. So this handsome pirate might exist. That's interesting. 'Could he get me more pictures?' I look at Nadine. Putting on some begging puppy eyes. Cause god, that man is handsome. Nadine starts to laugh. I look at her, again confused. 'He just said that It takes a lot of time. Oh and that he loves the face you're pulling,' I stick out my tongue. 'It's true dearie. I really do' someone grins. I startle and look up. 'Rumpel?' Nadine smiles. 'You heard him!' She claps her hands. 'Yes. I did!' 'At last!' I shake my head and look at the polaroid. I sigh. God, the amount of time I could look at this picture..

And again. Days went by. Rumpelstiltskin would sometimes bring me pictures of Hook. Which causes me to believe that there actually is a fairy tale world. Or however people would call it. And that causes me to made me hear Rumpelstiltskin from time to time. Nadine freaked out every time I'd heard Rumpelstiltskin talk. Now, we were at the lake behind our house. Today we decided to have a bit of an easy day, and relax a little. All the hard work of the previous days had cost us a lot of stress. 'I love this!' She yells. She thuds on the grass, enjoying the quietness that the lakes giving her. I shake my head. 'Angel? You seem a little off these days.' 'I'm re-thinking everything that has happened,' I admit. Nadine nods. 'I believe so. However Rumpel told me that everything's going to be okay,' 'I know but I just can't seem to think its normal,' 'because It's not,' Nadine grins. 'Still, you believe he exists now.' 'I do. But I only hear him though,' 'at least it's something,' she says. While giving me a playful push. I grin. 'Yeah that's true,' 'also, you're into Captain Hook,' I fake an offended look. But Nadine doesn't fall for It and giggles. 'Not that I blame you, I mean. Damn that man is hot.' 'He bloody hell is,' Nadine rolls her eyes. 'See, you haven't even met the man yet and you're already using his curse words' I grin. 'How about taking a dive!' She giggles. 'I'm into that!' I yell. We both run towards the water and dive into It. 'Bloody Hell, crocodile!,' a male voice screams. I look around me. No one there. Hook? What the-.. I was so lost in my thoughts, that I didn't saw that Nadine attacking me from behind. 'There' she yells. Pushing my head underwater. I swim up, hiccupping. 'You're going down!' I yell. Not much later we get out of the water. I look at my clothes to find another polaroid, which makes me excited. I grab it. I glare at the picture of Hook kissing a woman that looks a lot like me**2 - I feel myself getting angrier within a second. 'Angel, what's going on?' I show Nadine the picture. 'Oh, how cute,' she tries not to burst out laughing. Something Inside me was breaking. I look at her. Furious. 'She's using him,' Nadine can't hold it anymore and bursts out laughing. 'Angel calm the fuck down,' she laughs. 'How do you know that she is by just looking at the picture?' 'I would stop saying things like that If I were you, dearie. She might try to kill you again,' a high giggle follows. I look up. Rumpelstiltskin is standing behind Nadine. Holding her shoulders. 'You. You did this. Why did you do this!' I yell at Rumpelstiltskin. 'Wait, Angel. Can you see Rumpel?' I blink my eyes a few times. Its only just now that I realise that I actually see him. 'Yes. I do. He's standing behind you.'
