In my Pre-AP English class we were required to write a Gothic short story and I always had the intention of putting it on Wattpad so like here you go I guess XD
Oh also this is only supposed to be one chapter but if any of y'all want me to write a whole book on it feel free to let me know.
The morning of April 4th, 2016, Manuel Wolfe received a call from his his best friend James Latham.
"Manny!" was the deafening shout he heard on the other end of the line at three-fifteen on a Saturday morning.
"What on earth could you want at three in the morning James?" Manny scrambled to put his glasses on and hissed at the sudden change of vision, his voice so loud that it had woken up his boyfriend Tyler, who glared at him from his spot on the bed. Manny gave him an apologetic smile before going back to listening to his friend.
"A couple of my friends and I found an old abandoned tunnel a few days ago, and they're too wimpy to go and check it out. So, I figured you would want to come with me tonight."
"James, why in God's name do you think I would voluntarily go outside, let alone in some creepy, dirty, dark tunnel at night? We aren't teenagers anymore, and I am quite content spending my birthday night inside watching movies with Tyler."
"Ugh, stop being a chicken. Don't you want some excitement for your twenty-fifth birthday Manny? Dude, you only turn twenty-five once, and it also means you're a quarter of the way to one hundred." Manny could practically see James wiggling his eyebrows through the phone.
"You know what James? As far as I'm concerned you probably won't stop bugging me about going with you, so I will."
Shocked about Manny's response, James stuttered as he spoke. "Wait....Really? You know I'm just messing with you right? We totally don't have to go if you don't want to." The blatant panic in his voice caused Manny to roll his eyes.
"Who's being the chicken now, James?"
James Scoffed. "I am not a chicken, I'm just scared that you won't be able to handle going in there."
"I'll be fine. Now I am going back to sleep. I will call you at a decent time later today to figure out the details, okay?"
"Okay, bye."
Manny then glanced at the clock and realized that he had been talking to James for nearly an hour, and it was four am. He looked over at Tyler to see him sleeping soundly and smiled softly, before carefully taking his glasses off and going back to sleep.
His dreams were plagued with images of icy blonde hair and deep blood-red eyes.
He awakened with a start four hours later--way earlier than he intended--and took a minute to analyze what exactly he could have been dreaming about. After pondering and coming up with nothing, he called James, telling him that ten pm would probably be best to go, considering his boyfriend had reserved a birthday dinner at a fancy restaurant down the road.
At nine-thirty pm, after a much needed quiet meal with Tyler, he changed into some less formal-looking clothes in order to go to the tunnel with James, still smiling from Tyler's shameless flirting that was shown throughout the night. He brought a coat as well, considering it would most likely be extremely cold in a damp tunnel at night.
Manny arrived at nine-fifty nine sharp, to see James leaning against what looked like an enormous concrete entrance to what was most likely the tunnel. James had his signature smirk on his face and was wearing a leather jacket on his 5'9 figure. Manny wondered why it was that James was shorter than him by a fourth of a foot, yet still managed to look more intimidating than him.
