She woke up in her bed to a dimly lit room. Nothing was different except for two things that she noticed almost immediately. First, she felt worse than ever. Second, there was a soft hand stroking her face.

"Your majesty," she whispered, peeling her eyes open.

He leaned into her field of view. "I'm here," he assured her.

She lifted her hand weakly to touch his face. She was shaking too bad to move it in the right place. He smiled sadly and captured her hand. Pressing it to his cheek, he leaned into her cupped palm and breathed heavily.

"I am so sorry for leaving you alone," he said. "I was selfish. I shouldn't have left your side."

"S'okay," she breathed. "You're hurting, and I understand that. I am so sorry, your majesty. I've caused you so much pain-"

"What are you talking about?" he asked.

"I'm hurting you," she whispered, tears falling from her tired eyes. "I promised that I'd try to break the spell for you, and I didn't. I'm leaving so soon, I didn't have a chance-"

"Stop," he said. "Stop, stop. ___, you don't understand. The spell doesn't mean anything. You mean everything. You cannot possibly make me hurt. How could you? You're all of my happiness."

"And you are mine," she whispered. She tangled her fingers in the fur at the back of his head. "You always have been, you know."

"I'm glad," he said, and he kissed the palm of her hand.

The doors opened. They turned their heads to see the group of enchanted objects. They were all frowning, looks of hopelessness in their eyes. The Beast moved away slightly so they could climb up on the bed next to her.

"Hey, Chip," she breathed.

"Hi, ___," he said, his voice small.

"Did you show your mother the house?" she asked.

"Yeah," he said, smiling.

"I love it," Mrs. Potts said. "Thank you so much, dearie. You've made my boy so happy."

"It was my pleasure," she said. She looked back at Chip. "You know, I tied a ribbon of mine to the side of your new bed. If you slide down, you'll find a secret area for you to play in."
