Sam smiled and placed her cup gently unto the little coffee table in front her, between both of them. Lilith pointed to the corner of the house. The bright red phone was placed on it's own tiny table. A painting of what looks like an island was hanging on top it. Sam wrapped the towel around her shoulder properly before standing up.
"You should change. It's not good to wear wet clothes." Lilith reminded. Sam looked back. Lilith was sipping her cup of tea as elegantly as possible. The night gown reflected the light from the small lamp perfectly. Now that she's looking at her, she noticed that Lilith's hair is let loose. Her wavy red locks fell down her back down to her waist and a strand of her hair was hanging down her face in which she then tucked behind her ear the moment it caressed her button nose.
She looked heaven sent. Sam can't help but smile. Before reaching the phone, she stopped in her tracks. She doesn't know the number to her nan's house nor does she know her uncle or her nan's phone number. She clenched her jaw.
"You don't know who to call." Lilith's voiced bounced off the walls. Sam looked at her and bit her lip.
"Sadly, yes."
Lilith placed her cup down and grabbed a small but thick book under the table. She stood up and walked to Sam. She was a couple of inches shorter than Sam but her slim figure made her look taller than she actually is. Her skin was clear and her button nose had tiny freckles in it. She looked up and gave the book to Sam.
"This is the phone book. You can find your nan's name on it. "
Sam breathed out a thank you before proceeding to scan the book for her nan's name.
"Olly, Ottawa, Princeton, Persey...Luna, Luciel, hmm, Lucaro." She read the name all over again to make sure she got the right person. "Amanda de Viel Lucaro, yup, that is her."
She paused as she was about to press the last number.
She's not home. Her nan is not home. She's at the market. Stupid.
She shook her head. Tiny drops of water scattered everywhere. Sam then felt a light tap on her shoulder. Lilith was behind her, face calm but her eyes seemed worried. She already knew what she was about to say. "She's not home and I doubt uncle is home. He told me he'll also be leaving."
"You could stay her as long as you want, as long as it's raining. It's nice to have some company once in a while." She smiled. "Come on, change. I don't want you to be sick."
She did as she was told. Lilith indeed sounded mature than her physical appearance. She even sounded much more mature than her mom or her nan, in that matter. She sounded wise. Sounded like all she meant was good.
Sam walked to the bathroom, Lilith said it was okay to take a hot shower since she has been wearing the her wet clothes for a while and she's prone to having a fever. She followed what she said, again. The bathroom was big and classic and has a bathtub that is big enough for two. She turned the faucet on to fill the tub with lukewarm water. It took 5 minutes before the tub was filled. She picked up a bathbomb that before entering Lilith reminded her to use, on top the small cabinet near the sink.
The bathbomb slowly dissolved to reveal the dark blue colour that spread throughout the water. Sam discarded the towel and took of her clothes, then hanged then on the rack attached to the wall. The temperature of the water was perfect for the weather. As she sinks down to completely submerge her body in water she heard a quiet knock on the door.
"Sam? Do you want me to wash your hair?" Lilith asked with her soft voice. Sam looks back and forth from the door to the tub then to the tub then to the door. Should she say yes or no but it would be rude to say no. There's something in Lilith's voice that wants her to always say yes. It was quiet for a while.
"Sam?"
"Y-Yes, sure, come in." Sam answered as she gathered the bubbles on the surface of the water to cover her chest.
With a soft click, the door opened. Lilith steps inside with her hair in a low pony tail and a bottle of shampoo in one hand.
She doesn't know why she's nervous. Many girls in her class has already seen her naked because of their swimming class but for the first time, she's nervous of a girl seeing her naked. Obviously, she only met Lilith today. But still.
"You can turn your back to me." Lilith drags a small stool under the sink and sits near the tub facing Sam's back. Before Sam turned her back on her she shyly gathered some more bubbles to cover her chest. She feels like a child. It has been years since someone offered to wash her hair and that was her mom when she was in 4th grade.
Lilith scooped some water to wet Sam's hair and ran her fingers down her scalp. It felt good and gentle. Sam closed her eyes.
Lilith hummed as she scrubbed her hair and formed bubbles that covered her entire head. The vibrations from her humming sent shivers down Sam's back. Slowly, Lilith's fingers caressed Sam's nape and soon they touched her shoulders. She gently massaged them making Sam relax a bit more under her fingertips.
As Lilith's fingers touched her ears, she flinched. She never felt so relaxed. Sam took a deep breath and sighed. The smell of lavender and citrus filled the air. The sound of foam in her hair moving around was the only thing you can hear except Sam's and Lilith's gentle breathing.
--
Sam jerked herself awake. She fell asleep inside the tub!
"Fuck." she moaned. She looked around to see herself on a big bed lined with white linen. She's already in the change of clothes Lilith offered earlier. Did Lilith do this all by herself? Did she carry me all the way here? So many questions ran through Sam's head.
She immediately stood up and went for the door quietly.
She looked at the big grandfather clock at the corner of the room. It's already 7 in the evening. She should go home now but it is still raining strong.
She can hear small whispering downstairs. Sam quietly approached the stairs and walked down.
She saw Lilith talking by herself in the living room, facing no one in the chair in front of her, with only a lamp that lights up the room.
"Upstairs, okay, she's upstairs." Lilith said.
"She's sleeping, what do you want?" Lilith sounded annoyed but her face did not flinch.
"I want to see her."
