Prologue

 *Later in the Story*

“Your interview for the movie begins now.” An assistant told me and ushered me toward the big chair I was to sit in.

“Welcome love.” The interviewer said professionally.

“Hello.” I squeaked out.

“State your name and who you are speaking about.” She flipped a piece over the clip and clicked her pen to begin writing.

“Um, my name is Annie Johns and I’m speaking about Niall.” His name caused my voice to crack.

“So you’re Annie?” The interviewer lifted her face to stare directly at me. A look of compassion crossed her face while a small tear fell.

“Um yes?” It came out like a question, but I wasn’t really expecting her to know about me. I was a nobody who was abandoned by all her friends including the one who promised to fulfill my dreams and stay. My only ‘friends’ were my family. They stuck with me through thick and thin when my world came crashing down. I went from going to public school to being home-schooled because of everything. We even moved away from Ireland and headed to America.

“This part won’t air on the movie, but may I ask you…” She took a deep breath while closing her eyes. She exhaled and looked at me again. “Does he know you’re here?” Her question took my breath away and I could feel all the emotions surfacing. I vigorously shook my head. “O I’m sorry.”

“It’s not your fault. I’d prefer if he didn’t know I was here. But I would like to ask you a question and please be honest. How do you know who I am?” I looked directly at her searching for any signs that she was preparing to lie. She sighed and put down her clip.

“He blamed himself you know?” She said quietly.

“H-he what?” A small tear found its way to the surface.

“He heard about what happened and he blamed himself.  He wanted to go back and help, but wasn’t allowed too. He couldn’t just leave during the middle of tour.  He was furious and tried to call so many people to help.” Her voice cracked at the end.

“He did nothing wrong.” I said quietly while my brain raced all around.

‘He broke his promise.’ My brain shot back at me.

‘No he followed his dreams.’ I thought back.

‘He hasn’t even called you, messaged you, and emailed you or anything else.’ My mind really was against him, but my heart wasn’t.

‘He’s done nothing wrong.’ I slowly thought back.

‘He abandoned you as a friend.’ Stupid evil mind.

‘He tried to get help.’ I reasoned back.

‘But he didn’t even call you.’ I hate my mind.

“Annie?” The interviewer spoke my name softly and it broke me from my thoughts. I was sobbing and breathing rapidly.

“I’m sorry I can’t do this.” I muttered and ran out of the interview room.
