-~-~-~-Day One-~-~-~-

I don't know how long we were in the woods, but we searched every nook and cranny that we knew about and could get to. We even cornered some bandits, threatening them and trying to bribe them into telling us if they knew where Nicole was, but none of 'em knew. Adam got angry, I didn't understand fully why he was so mad. I mean I was getting angry because there was a missing Noblemen's daughter out there that was engaged to my best friend and we couldn't find her, but he was getting angry for other reasons. He didn't know her, but he's acting like she's someone he's known his whole life. He nearly ran a theif clear through with his sword, that's when I knew we needed to stop for the night and make camp.

"We should be looking for her!" He yells.

"Adam, we need to rest. It's to dark to look anyway. We might miss something." He puts his head down in defeat. "I promise you that we'll find her. And if we don't, then another Knight will. I promise you, and I never break promises." I look at him, waiting for him to reply to me. "Okay?" He nods.

"Okay." He looks at me with sullen eyes. "I'm sorry that I'm so angry, I don't know why I am..."

"She's your fiancee." I shrug. "I'd be angry too."

"But I've never even meet Nicole. I don't love her, or know her, she could be one of those people who just want to be queen and I don't even know it." I sigh.

"I'm sorry." I whsiper. "I wish I could tell you bout her, but I don't know her."

"It's not your fault." He shrugs.

We sit there in silence the rest of the night. Feeding the fire and taking turns watching for bandits while the other slept.

-~-~-~-Day Two-~-~-~-

I wake up, the fires dead and Adam's saddling up the horses.

"Hey, your up." He says when he notices I'm up. "Good. I was about to wake you up. Happy birthday."

"Thanks." I smile. "We heading out?"

"Yea." He swings onto Lightening, and I climb onto Vivian. "Keep going the way we were?" He asks.

"Yea." I kick Vivian's sides, and we start to ride.

We don't talk, just keep an eye for anything and everything. It's a comfy silence, one that the forest fills with natural sounds of birds and other creatures' sounds. We come to a small stream and stop to water our horses. I find an apple tree and pick one for Vivian and one for myself. She eats it as I pet her neck lovingly. I munch on mine, drinking from the stream.

"I've seen no sign of a carriage." Adam says, still sitting on Lightening. "You?"

"No. Let Lightening rest, he has to be hungry and thirsty." He slides off, letting Lightening drink and eat some grass. We tie them up, walking down the path. "Prehaps the other Knights have found her." I suggest. "She might have just gotten lost."

"I suppose..."

"Don't worry so much, we'll find her." He nods.

We continue to look for Lady Nicole, the sun getting lower and lower. We start heading back to our horses so we can ride a ways before setting up camp.

We find a small rock formation by the river that runs from the Ocean to a great Lake. We collect some wood and start a camp fire, tieing the horses up so they can eat grass and drink from the river, then start cooking dinner. We relax slightly, deciding who has first shift.

"I'll do it." I insist. "You get some sleep."

"Cinderella, it's your birthday-"

"And your the Prince." I smile at teasingly.
