Chapter 2

Early Friday morning my alarm clock filled the room with its annoying buzzing noise that I'm pretty sure wakes up the whole house. Grumbling, I turned it off and rolled over, planning on going back to sleep. You couldn't pay me to go to school that day. I was not in any sort of mood to deal with my parents finally questioning me about the weather and I knew that Jason would give me an earful about making him look stupid, although he has that part pretty much covered on his own. It would just be another boring day that was the same as all the others were, only shorter since it was Friday.

Disturbing my comfortable position, I flipped my pillow over and sighed as the cool fabric relaxed my face. After a minute of fussing, I finally got back into a semi comfortable position that allowed me to fall quickly to sleep.

Sometime during my sleep, a person came into my room. I felt their presence come warily through the door and hover in my room for a minute before leaving something on my nightstand and leaving, shutting the door behind them. It was probably my mother coming in to find out why I hadn't left for school yet and, finding me still asleep, left a note telling me what leftovers were in the fridge and wishing me a wonderful day off, plus as little "Feel better" at the bottom that meant that she assumed that I wasn't feeling well and that's why I wasn't attending school. Little did she know, I was feeling perfectly fine, I just didn't want to deal with the fact that I had broken the first rule:

'Don't let anyone know about my powers'.

When I woke I stretched for a minute before looking at the clock. I had slept in a good four hours and it was now eleven. It would still be a while before my parents got off work as they are usually out until around ten at night. I reached over and grabbed the note which was on one of the note papers from the stationary pads that hung from the fridge. It was written in the black pen that sat in the little jar next to the fridge, but when I looked closer to read it, I noticed that it was not in my mother's handwriting. Upon further inspection, it wasn't in my father's either. I carefully held the note up to my face and read what was written there in the strange, scratchy handwriting.

To whom it may concern,

I regret to inform you that your parents are under suspicion of committing a serious crime against our agency by housing one of our test subjects and hiding them from us. We will continue our search, as a quick scan has revealed that you are not this subject, but your parents have been taken in for questioning. Please do not bother the authorities, as they are working for us and don't come looking for your parents because by the time you read this letter, it will probably already be too late.

Our sincerest apologies,

At the bottom of the letter there was a blank space, like whoever had written it had gone to sign it, then thought better of it. In a dazed panic, I closed my eyes and used my powers, stretching out my mind in search for my parent's life force. Finding nothing, I collapsed onto the kitchen floor, knowing that the note was right and that it was already too late, they were dead.

-Sorry about the short chapter guys, but I really just wanted to get it to you finally. I feel so bad! What's going to happen next though?
