Hamster care guide
Minimum cage size: 450 sq inches of floor space, per hamster
Syrians are solitary
Dwarves can be housed together, but only if they are the same gender from-the same litter
the best option is a bin cage. You can get creative, they are cheap, easy
No one hamster diet provides enough nutrients.make your own diet at a feed store, or buy a bunch and combine
Oxbow pellets provide all nutritional needs, but a tasteless. You can coat them in honey (only as a last resort. Honey should only be given as a treat in small amounts rarely) or the better option, you can coat them in blended fruit, peanut butter, or all-natural fruit-only jam
Avoid bar cages. Hamsters may chew on bars, resulting in broken teeth
Hamsters teeth never stop growing, so always provide chew toys. Apple wood stick chew toys can bu rubbed on apple to strengthen apple taste and smell
Hamsters have sensitive respitory systems, so stay away from pine, cedar, scented, corn cub, and unspecified wood shaving bedding. Aspen and paper based bedding are safe. I personally recommend paper bedding, as it is softer. Kaytee clean n cozy is one of the softest, but also sometimes has a lot of dust, and not very absorbent
Provide sand baths, just make sure the sand is dust free and is not composed of fine grains
Hamsters can be potty trained, but you cannot use a clay based potty litterI will update soon. Please ask questions, I am an avid animal lover who loves to improve the life of any animal
