Chapter Five

Paige's POV

"R u free 2day?" Nico's name popped up on my phone. I had been texting him all morning.

"when?" I replied.

"like in an hr?" He sent. I bit my lip and thought about whether I had anything to do today.

"Mother!" I called.

"Yes, honey?" My mom yelled back.

"Am I busy today?"

"No, darling."

"Okay! Thanks!" I screamed one last time an then returned my attention to my phone.

"sure. Where should I meet u?" I texted him.

"I'll pick u up?" Nico replied. I sent him my address and began to take the posters of him off of my walls. A little over five minutes later, all of my posters were hidden in a box at the bottom on my closet, under my shoes.

"Mom!" I screamed, running down the stairs.

"Yes, darling?" She asked once I found her in the kitchen baking what looked like cookies, but I wasn't too sure.

"I'm going out with a friend in an hour." I informed her.

"What's his name?"

"I never said it was a him?" How did she know?

"Honey, I know it's a boy. What's his name?"

"Nico."

"As in Nico Horan?" she gave me a look of disbelief.

"Yeah., I shrugged my shoulders, "He's picking me up here so you can see for yourself."

I ran back up to my room, fixed my makeup, hair and changed my shirt. I switched from an oversized sweatshirt to a floral print crop-top that fit tightly around my boobs.

My phone began to ring and I raced to pick it up. "Hello?" I asked into the receiver.

"Paigey, babe! How are you?" An annoyingly high-pitched voice rang through the line. Bridgett.

Bridgett was the most annoying girl who thought she was your closest friend, but in reality, she wasn't. Nobody at school liked her because she was annoying, over-dramatic, and not to mention snobby. Plus, she lied a lot.

"Oh! Hey, Bridge. I'm doing great." I replied lackadaisically. Her nickname was Bridge because she had done gymnastics for her nature life, yet sucked at it. The only thing she was good at was a backbend which we called a bridge.

"What's new?" Her cheerful voice came through.

"Nothing really." I rolled my eyes, desperately wanting to end the conversation.

Fifty minutes later, I was still on the phone with Bridgett. "No way." I faked enthusiasm.

"I know! I can't believe that actually happened to me!" Bridgett continued to ramble on. I wanted to jump out the window. "So, do you have a job yet?" she asked.

Maybe I would if you would leave me alone. "No. I rather not have a job yet. I had plenty in high school." My voice carried monotone.

"Are you serious? I work at a blowing place. It's so cool because of t--" I blocked Bridgett out as soon as I heard my doorbell ring.

"Oh, Bridgett, I'm so sorry. I really have to go! You'll have to tell me about your job another time. Bye." I hung up the phone without letting her say good bye back.

I shoved my phone in my purse that had my money for wherever we were going. I raced down the stairs as straightened out my hair.

"Hi, Nico!" I greeted him, finally.
