As the day winds down, she felt immensely relieved. The days have been more challenging then usual. Everyone seems to have such high expectations of her, which is nothing new to her. Thinking to herself on the drive home I wish I felt more appreciated by those around me. She decided to stop somewhere that she has never been to before on her way home for dinner. Once arriving at a cute little dinner that she has past so many times she sees him. The person who has been plaguing her dreams and most of her waking thoughts for the past months. No, he is not someone that she already knew, but a complete stranger that she has only seen in her dreams. She honestly has no idea why she keeps dreaming of him. "Hello miss, what can I get you today?" She was startled of her thoughts y the sound of his deep voice close to her. Closer then she expected. "Oh um, I'm not sure. I've never been here before. what would you recommend?" She asked. Leaning over to take a look at her menu he said "this is my favorite dish here" while pointing to something. "Or if you want there is a really good cafe down the street. My shift is over in about fifteen minutes, you could join me for dinner if you wanted."
"That sounds wonderful! Thank-you. I'll just get a drink while I wait then." She said. A couple of minutes later he returned with a drink he believed she would love, turns out he was right. It was delicious. While she was waiting she decided it would be a good time to read. Pulling out her copy of Never Die Alone by Lisa Jackson she quickly became so engrossed in the book that she lost track of time. Feeling like she was being watched she looked up and was startled to see him sitting across from her smiling at her. Blushing she quickly put the book away and apologized and asked if he had been waiting for long. Chuckling he said "not really, just a couple of minutes."
"Well, why didn't you say something?"
'You looked too content and like there was nothing in the world that could bother you. Plus, you are just too gorgeous to not take in as much of your beauty as possible." Even more flustered then before she asked where they were headed for dinner. Without saying anything he grabbed her hand gently pulling her out of her seat and to the door.
During dinner and their walk to the cafe she learned a lot about him and that they are very similar. His name he revealed Jackson but everyone calls him Jack. He is the oldest of four and lives on the very outskirts of town. He loves reading and is also reading Never Die Alone by Lisa Jackson.
At the end of the evening as they were walking back to the dinner he works at they both said it felt like they already knew each other. "Do you want to come by for a glass of wine?" She asked while they were standing outside their cars. "I'd love to, but I have to work in the morning and my place is pretty far from here." He said. "Well, you could stay the night if you wanted to? I mean I know we just met, but like we both said, it feels like we have known each other forever." She proposed. "As wonderful as that sounds, I think I might have to decline. I would, but I don't have any clean clothes with me and I have to be up by 5:00 A.M., I'd hate to wake you." He said sadly.
Standing by their cars feeling incredibly disappointed, though, not entirely sure why, she suddenly remembered something. "Wait! I just remembered, if you felt like changing your mind, I have a pair of sweatpants at my place that would probably fit you.. If you wouldn't mind being shirtless for the night you can borrow them and I can wash your work clothes for you. Also, you wouldn't be waking me. I haven't been getting much sleep lately, and have to be up around that time as well." She said feeling pleased with this new idea. "I guess that could work. Do you want to lead the way or ride together?" He asked.
"Hop in, Jack." She said. The drive was silent other then the radio playing softly in the background. Lost in their thoughts about all of the possibilities of what could happen. Leading him inside her building she faintly heard him humming a tune that sounded so familiar but she couldn't figure out why. While trying to figure it out she felt herself being pulled out of the way by Jack when a young boy ran by chasing his younger sister because she didn't want to go in yet. "Sorry Ms. Sommers!" the Young boy yelled as he finally caught his sister. "Are you guys heading up now as well?" He asked, while walking to the elevators.
