Month: March (8 months prior to Prologue, 5 months prior to The strongest softie in Ikebukuro)

You just moved to Tokyo. You took a job offer in ASCII Media Works and you were extremely happy about it. You finally pursued your dream and worked with a manga company, as an artist, however you never considered yourself as such.
Your best friend, [A/N: OK, I'm gonna name her Nani, which means What? In Japanese, because I can't do anything better xD], who worked at the same place and started only a few months before you did, invited you to go spend a night at hers. You agreed.
You weren't amazed by the place you rented but it could satisfy your needs of sleeping and eating at for the very least. It still needed a lot of work to call it 'home'. You gathered a little bit of money from summer jobs in the past years, but those savings didn't allow you to live in either Shinjuku or Ikebukuro area.
You and your friend agreed to meet at Ikebukuro station, have a light dinner at Russia Sushi and then meet her manga-crazed friends, Erika and Walker. At least I will be out of this dump! -you thought. But of course, this was your first day in Tokyo and you managed to mess up, big time. Somehow, instead of Ikebukuro, you ended up in Shinjuku. How far can the Ikebukuro station be? -you scoffed, as you saw the next train comes in half an hour. I can totally walk there! You left the station and walked around for almost an hour, and realized you were completely lost!
"Er, Nani? Hi!" -you called your friend.
"Hey, where are you?"
"I'm not sure. Somewhere in Shinjuku." -you replied, turning around to find a street sign.
"You're hopeless." -she laughed. "Just try not to run into that information broker I told you about."
"Sure..."
"Seriously, (f/n)! I know trouble usually finds you. And that guy is the definition of trouble!"
"Fine, I'll go back to the station and take the next train!"
"Alright, give me a call when you're on it!"
"Bye!"

You put your phone back in your handbag. In a couple of steps, some dude grabbed your bag and tried to rip it off your shoulder. You, like the bad-ass you are, held onto the strap of your bag. Your phone, your wallet... pretty much your whole life was in there. Of course, trouble always finds me! -you thought, trying to get your bag back. He pulled out a knife, cut the strap off and ran away with your bag.
"Goddamit it!" -you ran after him. "Thief! Stall him!" -you shouted at the few people on the streets, but none of them were going to help you. Yeah, I'm glad I don't live in Shinjuku. -you thought.
The thief turned into an alley way. Let's not lose him! -you sped up, but within a second, you stopped. The thief flew out of the alley way. A raven-haired, slim built guy in a parka jumped on top of him. He also had a knife, and kept it quite close to the thief's throat.
"That bag doesn't match your eyes." -the guy in the parka spoke.
"I-It's mine." -you stuttered, stepping closer. You liked action, but you had little to no experience with knife fights.
"In that case..." -your raven haired saviour pulled the thief upright. "Get the hell out of here before I change my mind about cutting you open."
The thief dropped your bag and ran away.
"Thank you so much!" -you said, grabbing your bag. "Can I get you a coffee or...?"
"It's okay, (name)-chan!"
"How do you know my name?!" -your eyes grew wide and your eyebrows rose high.
"Oh, allow me to introduce myself." -he offered you a hand. "Izaya Orihara."
"You are Izaya?!"
"I take it as you heard about me." -he put his hand back in his pocket, grinning at you.
"I did. All the awful things!" -you admitted. Nani told you about the information broker who'd mess up anyone's life just to get some sort of sick joy out of it, that he claims to love all humans, except for Shizuo, that he pretends to be a girl on the internet... but she failed to tell you about Izaya's slim built body, the messy raven hair and the observing maroon eyes. You were fond of his looks, and also, he just saved you a huge deal of trouble! "But... you were great to me, so thank you! How can I repay you?" -you added.
"Do you wanna grab some fatty tuna?"
"Now?"
"Well..."
"I mean, I would take you tomorrow!" -you explained. "I'm meeting my friend in Ikebukuro..."
"Great, I'll go with you!" -Izaya agreed and got hold of your hand.
"Woah!" -you stopped. "I have a feeling my friend won't like you."
"Your source of information about me?" -he tilted his head childishly to the side.
"Yep."
"Okay." -he sighed. "But we're having lunch together tomorrow!"
"Sure!" -you agreed. "Where do we meet?"
"(name)-chan, I'm in an information broker. Let me find you!"
"Not sure if it's creepy or romantic." -you chuckled nervously.
"Both." -he nodded. "You'll be okay?" -he asked and you nodded in reassurance. "Well, then... I'll see you tomorrow, (name)-chan!" -Izaya kissed your cheek. It made you blush!
As quickly as he appeared out of thin air, he was gone. You stood there, a little bit stunned, a little bit dumbfounded. Izaya Orihara kissed me! -you bit your lips. I guess I really shouldn't judge by the rumours.
