"talia," my short, blonde best friend said, obviously trying to spite me. "it's the first party of our junior year! you have to go!" i rolled my eyes as i stopped in my tracks and spun around on my heel to look her in the eyes.

"ashton, i don't know how many times i have to tell you. i. don't. like. to. party. what can you not understand about that?!" i snapped, sounding a whole lot harsher than what i meant to. she let out a sigh.

"i got invited, and i was told i could bring one guest. you should at least be happy that i'm asking you to go with me," she looked down to her feet. i scoffed and added a bitter laugh to the end.

"oh, please. i'm far from happy. i'm not even officially invited! nobody would even want me there, and if they did, they would give me a real invitation like the one you received," i said, pointing to the invitation in her hand before spinning back around on my heel and walking right out the front doors to the school.

i walked across the long blacktop parking lot until i got to my car. i had to rummage through my bag to find my keys, but i eventually heard their rattling and pulled them out. i was about to get in my car until i heard a perky, high-pitched voice come from behind me.

"talia?" it called. as soon as i'd heard it, i knew exactly who is was.

Lexi Willington.

Lexi Willington wasn't only the school's most popular snobby bitch, but she was also the schools most popular slut. it was only wednesday, and i'm sure she'd already fucked 6 guys this week.

i purses my lips and turned around, the bright pink of her lipstick almost blinding me to death.

"hey, lexi," i said, very unenthusiastically.

"hey there, talia. so i'm sure you've heard about the party at my house this friday, right? well, i'm only asking because like, everyone has been invited," she said, throwing her blonde hair over her shoulder. i closed my eyes, trying not to say anything harsh.

"yes. i've heard about it,"

"great!" she chirped. she pulled a small price of paper from her bag and shoved it into my hands. "be there," she gave me a smug smile before putting her hand on her hip and walking off.

i stood there, eyes wide open as i gazed down at the words plastered on the paper.

'hope to see you there'

i guess i could go, it would make ashton happy at least. i slightly shrugged my shoulders before getting into my car and driving my journey to my home.
