The curious boy got to the beach extra early on Thursday morning. He wanted to surprise the girl. He wasn't sure why. He also wasn't sure what the fluttery feeling in his stomach was when he saw her standing in her usual spot on the beach, but he suddenly became very panicked.
What if the girl didn't want the boy to stand with her today? Or ever again? His fear grew as he drew nearer, for little did he know that the girl did in fact enjoy his presence.
Today wasn't any different from the other days, he told himself taking another step towards the waves. You can do this. The curious boy slowly slipped into the empty space next to the girl, and without a word she flicked her eyes to his, and then away, back to the water.
And that is how they stayed for the rest of the day, exchanging nervous glances back and fourth. That is, until three, when the curious boy's parents came to pick him up.
