20-year-old Clementine (Cece or Tine) Chen works as a barista at Crystal Café for about 7 months. Everyone looks and treats her as a regular person, just causally working at a local café. Her parents are CEOs to their tech company, HARDAZA. Clementine and her identical twin Coraline (Cora) haven't been seen as the CEO's daughters too often. They don't get the "paparazzi spotlight" or "on the hotspot", unlike Cole, their eldest brother and of course, their own parents.
yes. all of their names start with C. what a coincidence 😎
Clementine's POV
"Kids! Come downstairs please!" Mother hollered as my siblings, Cole and Coraline, ran out of their rooms. I followed them behind. Coraline, aka Cora, is my identical twin sister. She came into the world a couple minutes earlier than I did, which of course, makes me the young one in the family. Cole is my eldest brother. Nothing special about him so, let's move on.We met my parents in the living room. Dad was, once again, on his sudoku grind while Mom was making her homemade sparkling water on the kitchen island. "What's going on?" I asked. Mom and Dad kept looking back at each other then looked at us.
"Well, we have some announcements to make!" Mom cheered. "Some big news, don't cha think honey?". Dad nods as he continues to solve his sudoku puzzle in a newspaper column. We sat on the couch quietly. Usually when it comes to "very big news", it's always dramatic and sometimes, a lie. Adding onto that, some don't go according to plan. The last time we heard about some big news was when Dad was going to head out to the states to work on a new project for a year but, the sponsor backed out last minute.
"So, what's going on?" Cora wondered.
Mom closed her eyes, inhales and exhales then, threw her jazz hands in the air. "Alrighty kiddos! Pack your things, we're moving!" She gives a round of applause to herself. Our jaws dropped. As Mom continues to go wild about us moving, Cole, Cora and I looked at each other in shock and confusion. We don't know what to say other than, where are we moving to? and why are we the ones moving? What's wrong with living in our humble abode?
A couple minutes later, Mom took a minute to calm down and looked at the three of us, who are wide-eyed and speechless. "Why aren't you guys saying anything? Aren't you all excited?!" She asked. We looked at each other again then look up at Mom.
"Well-" Cora and I said in unison. We both looked at each other. "You say it- No you!" We argued until Cole threw a couch pillow at us. "HEY!"
"Shut up!" He shouted. "I should've said it instead of these two weasels." He murmured to himself. "Where are we moving to anyways?" All three of us turned back to Mom.
"Ah right! I didn't tell you guys that part yet!" Mom giggles as she got all hyped up again. "Thank you for reminding me, my son!". Damn it Cole! We facepalmed ourselves and started to attack him with couch pillows.
Mom took a second to take a sip of her sparkling water then started to do a drum roll off of Dad's broad shoulders. "We are moving to...!" She pauses as our impatience starts to rise. "South Korea!" She cheered. "Woo! Now that must be the exciting part!"
The look of our faces was just, blank.
"Eh. Not really." Cole shrugs his shoulders while Cora and I were laughing on the side. "Am I right though?". Our beloved brother loves to be known as the brightest bulb in the family, but it rarely happens. We call it, the 'Cole moment'.
"Pfft! It's not April Fools yet, Mother." Cora huffed. "They're just fooling us, you idiots." She playfully nudged my shoulder. Mom shook her head in disagreement.
