A man walked by. I froze and tried to look asleep, hiding my broken bonds under my fur.
"Subject 34 has successfully evolved. Conditions have stabilized. Should be ready for the Ingentis soon, if it lasts the night. Put her in enclosure three." I heard the scribble of notes being taken down and the click of heels as the man walked away.
I had way too many questions. Evolved? Ingen-thingy? Lasts the night?!
I hesitantly opened one eye, then another. Woah... everything around me seemed a lot clearer. Suddenly, I was forcefully shaken out of my bewildered state by two burly men, who began violently removing my restraints.
The one on my left paused, studying the cuff I'd broken. "Hmm... we've got to be careful with this one! It was sneaky enough to break one of its' restraints!" One of the men said, patronizingly.
"Well, whaddo you expect? It's part-fox, the irritating little bugger."
I put up with their insults, for now. Very soon, I would be free...
However, the moment I could even relax my muscles, one of them stabbed another needle into my back. Not again...
I couldn't move... But I could still see and hear what was going on around me. The men picked me up and dumped me on some sort of wheeled table, grunting. They then started wheeling me away.
"I swear, you enjoy doing that way too much. Give them a taste of freedom, then crush their dreams." the man on my left said.
I heard a snort from somewhere on the right, before a hand reached out and yanked my tail. Pain made my vision turn red.
"Hmm... It seems like I could get good money for this. Maybe I should cut it off and make it into a trophy." I could almost feel his leering smile.
"Don't be stupid. You know he doesn't like them damaged." I could almost hug him. Key word: almost.
The rhythmic rattling of the cart and the murmuring of the men made it's way into my head and I was shocked when it stopped abruptly.
One of the men stuck a syringe into my leg. Owww- nah, I was used to it by now.
"I've put in the antidote. We have to get out before they wake up. Now."
They...?
