"Where are we heading?" I adjust my bag and continue to kick the debris.

"To my base. Its just little ways up north. Anyways kid, whats your story? You seem like the mysterious type." I take a deep sigh. "Well I grew up in California. My mom had no husband because he abandoned her when I was 3. The Apocalypse started when I was about 9 i think. And my mom and I were together throughout..pretty much everything. One day, we were held hostage by these bandits..."  I walk slower.

"They tortured and killed my mom in front of me. I got away but they killed more people from my group..I don't even think we did anything wrong." I come to a stop and wipe tears from my eyes, burying my face in my hands. Pam puts her hand on my shoulder. "It's gonna be alright." She says with an awkward smile. Its obvious she doesn't know how to comfort people.

I chuckle and wipe a tear. "We both know it's not going to be 'alright', But I can get through this."

After 2 hours of walking and discussing things about our life story's, we finally arrive at the base. Its huge. "Why were you at the hospital and not here with your group?" I ask while tilting my head.

"Well..we were assigned to explore that area and we ended up staying there for a while. We found lots of supplies there too." Pam says.

"Oh.." We both start walking towards the entrance.
The guard notices the fresh blood on Pam's clothes. "M-may I ask what happened?" He says.

Pam pauses. "No. And can you please tell someone to get me new clothes."

"Right away." He speaks into the walkie talkie.

Pam and I walk in.
