My computer flicked, the bright light hurting my eyes in the darkness. I downloaded a game I have been meaning to play for a long time...it was called Alone. I have heard that it was extremely scary but I was not convinced in the least.

I set up my Oculus Rift and slid it over my eyes, then placed on my headphones. After fumbling for my key board, I started the game. I seemed to be in a living room...it wasn't the best graphics but it was good enough to become truly immersed. I was sitting on the couch in front of a TV that seemed to be turned on with a game on it...horror maybe?
There was a howling in the background as the curtains fluttered in the breeze at the window. There was a small forest outside my window that had trees that swayed in the storm. It sounded almost as if the rain was speaking to me...whispering...it sent shivers down my spine. A wooden fan spun above my head, it somehow added to the creepiness.
I pressed start on the game in the game. It was really starting to confuse me now. I was playing a game inside a game...I was in a place, in a place, in a real place...it was like gameception or something. My block character flicked onto the screen, standing on a stone path. I picked up a note, but unfortunately didn't get to read it before I accidentally press something and it closed it. Dammit. Oh well...I'll know for next time.
I came to a gate in front of a large house, to find a note resting on the ground.
'I have had to lock the main gate to prevent it from banging around during the windy nights. I left a spare "key" near the grounds keeper's shed.', it read.
A slight mumbling started to arise in my eardrums from my apartment...no the living room...no, no the game...I don't know anymore. It is becoming increasingly hard to recognise reality.
I walked on a little, coming to the groundskeeper's shed. The mumbling started again. It was...unnerving. I picked up the shiny object next to the shed...bolt cutters? That must be the "key" they were talking about. Once I had gotten back to the gate, I cut the lock so the gates opened in a slow squeak. The court yard was also a stone path but there was a huge mass of blood staining it. I was not too alarmed at it, mainly because it only looked like jam, but it also informed me that this WAS in fact a horror game...and I need to be on my guard.
Once in the house, I discovered another note in the first room; The old house groaned and seemed to be in a constant state of settling, these houses sure are noisy.
The house begun to groan...in the game of corse...right? This game was messing with me now. I was having to worry about what was happening in the game...in the game and having to worry about what was happening in my house in the game and THIS made me worry about what was happening in reality.
Shaking off my confusion, I moved onto the next room. It had tall wooden walls...well...the whole house was made of wood...but on this floor were five puddles of blood in a sort of pentagram formation...I think I can see where this is going. Moving on to the next room, I found another note; 'Caught a glimpse of someone out in the woods today. Possibly the groundskeeper?'
Yeah! My murderous groundskeeper I'm guessing! I looked put the windows of my house just in case...nope nothing...ok...
I moved onto the next room, it had the moonlight of the night sky focusing through the windows as I noticed another note; '...Then I heard a terrible scream from the forest.'
A low scream sounded from outside of the mansion that made me almost jump a little...in my seat...in my apartment...reality of corse. The next room had yet another note in it; 'I couldn't fall asleep last night, keep hearing weird noises in the attic. Like someone dragging a body across the floor.'
