Jaycee woke up in the bed with a hefty bruise on the left side of her face.
She didn't know where she was for a moment, but then the memories came flooding back. Her losing Alex, meeting Sheryl, and then getting punched.
Sheryl came up the stairs with a bandage and a luke-warm rag to put on Jaycee's face.
"I told you you shouldn't have tried to leave." Sheryl said while placing the rag in a bowl of water.
Jaycee struggled and tried to get away and just run, but eventually figured out that her leg was cuffed to the bed post.
"Don't struggle dear, you'll only make it worse."
"Make what worse?" She thought to herself. As she turned and examined her surroundings, she saw a picture on the wall. The glass was shattered and the picture faded. She strained her eyes, and recognized that it was a girl about 13 that looked alot like Jaycee.
"That's it!!" She thought as she looked at Sheryl.
"Umm... Sheryl... Can I use the bathroom. Ya know, just for a second?" She strained her hoarse voice.
"Well, sure. But if you get any ideas, you know what will happen." She said picking up a knife on the desktop and placed it back down again.
Jaycee got up and slowly while keeping her eye on the picture walked to the bathroom. She finally closed the door and sighed. Using the memory of the girl's picture, she nudged around in the cabinet as quietly as she could looking for something she could use to darken her eyes, or line her lips. She proceeded and finally matched herself to the girl as best as she could and slowly left the bathroom.
"Umm... mom?" Jaycee pretended.
Sheryl stared at her in shock, "Becka? Is that really you? Its been so long, where have you been all these years?"
Sheryl's eyes were starting to water.
"Well, don't just stand there give your mom a hug!" Sheryl rushed up towards her and enveloped her in a tight hug. "I missed you my baby girl... but why did you try to kill me?"
