back for the summer

The breeze of the wind and the rustle of leaves could be heard in the forest, the trees leaves are a vibrant green color showing the arrival and first day of summer. The cool summer breeze flows through the air, my boots walking across the forest floor.

I was heading towards work. I still worked at the mystery shack but I don't mind it, I enjoy it to be honest. I turned 19 not too long ago and was thinking about heading to college but I wasn't sure just yet.

I walked with my hands in my pockets, listening to Radiohead through my earphones. As I walked through the forest my mind wandered back to that summer Four years ago, remembering the pines twins and all the things we did, the things we fought.

for a moment I remembered what happened at the bunker, fighting the shape shifter and dipper. "hey wendy hurry up shift started 5 minutes ago!" Soos called to me from the gift shop door, waving. "I'll be there in a second" I yelled back and paused my IPod.

I pulled my earphones out and ran over, quickly entering the shack and sitting at my post. "wendy you're lucky I'm not strict" Soos said as he fixed his tie, getting ready for a Mystery Tour. "yeah I know I'm sorry, I was just thinking about stuff that's all" I sighed as I pulled out the latest issue of indiefuzz from under the desk.

"well whatever it was don't let it hinder your work dude" he patted my shoulder before walking off to some tourists. The phone went off in the hallway and Soos quickly called "wendy can you get that!?" I sighed and stood up, walking to the hallway.

I picked up the phone "Mystery shack, who's calling?" I asked with a tone of boredom in my voice "oh uh, hey wendy" a deepish but cool voice called from the other side of the phone "wait who is this?" I asked curiously.

"oh, its dipper" the voice on the other side of the line said "and mabel!" another voice called in the background. "dipper!" I exclaimed excitedly "why are you calling?" I asked with my curiosity peaking "well, me and mabel are coming up to gravityfalls, like right now" he laughed nervously.

"No way!" I said a little to loudly with joy and Soos looked over at me, raising an eyebrow "what's up dude?" he asked curiosly and I smiled "the twins are coming back!" his eyes widened and a smile grew on his face "you go meet them! I've got these guys to take care of" he gestured to the tourists.

I nodded, hung up the phone and ran out the door. My hair flowing behind me as I ran over to the bus stop, waiting on the twins. Sure enough the bus came up over the horizon, coming ever so closer.

I stood waiting ecstatically for the bus to stop. as the bus pulled up, it stopped and the doors opened slowly and the first to exit the bus was mabel. "wendy!" she exclaimed as she put her bag down and hugged me.

"mabel you look amazing!" I exclaimed and she gave me a toothy, braceless smile. "you got your braces off!" I pointed and she nodded giddily "yeah I did!" we both laughed and she turned "hurry up dipper!" she called up the bus and sighed.

"sorry, he's a bit, nervous" she laughed nervously and she leaned closer to me "be a bit easy on him, he's been really stressed lately" she whispered and I nodded 'stressed?' I thought but shook it off.

"uhh, hey wendy" he gave a small wave as he stepped off the bus and smiled at me "oh my gosh dipper!" I hugged him tightly and he dropped his bags, hugging me back "I've missed you dude!" I exclaimed happily and he smiled back "yeah me too" he smiled.

"I'm gonna go to the shack to see Soos, you two can talk to each other for a bit" she winked at us and done some finger guns before walking off. I looked back at dipper and jesus has he changed, he wasn't that small boy with noodle arms I once knew.

now he stood taller than me, wearing a red T-shirt and blue hoodie, black skinny jeans and a pair of black converse shoes. he wore the hat I gave him and I smiled, still wearing the blue pine hat he gave me Four summers ago.

he looked so, handsome was the only way I could describe it. I was in awe. "dude you've gotten so tall!" I compared our sizes and he laughed "yeah I know, I thought you used to be tall but now you're just a small fry" he laughed and I gave him a light punch on the shoulder.

"watch it dude" we both laughed and he hugged me again, this time a bit tighter and I was a bit caught off guard but I returned the hug. "I've missed you wendy" he spoke quietly and I smiled, a warm feeling in my heart "me too dipper" we hugged for a little while before we separated.

he picked up his cap that I was wearing and swapped it for my old hat "why'd you do that?" I asked him curiosly and he smiled "because you mean a lot to me wendy, and I thought it'd be nice to swap hats for the summer, it'd be like old times" he gave smooth smile and I felt myself blush a little.

'did I just blush?' I thought and he chuckled "come on, lets get going!" I said excitedly and I picked up one of his bags "I can get it" he said and I shook my head "nah I'll help" I smiled and he smiled back. we started to walk off to the shack as the bus drove away...
