Light By The End of The Road

By Franz Carmen

The lonesome boy who has long wandered

Strewn in the rocks are his mistakes

Nothing to be seen, only darkness

In a foggy, thorny path he takes

Numb from the journey he has traveled

Thinking no longer go on,

The shadows beckon to go astray

And told him better to be gone

It soon pulls him towards the side

Beckons him to stop and fall

The weights that he had long carried

Stand on his back so tall

The boy pauses to come to the heed

But a soft, kind breeze touches his shoulder

He raises up his head with tears

The voice so warm tells him to come over

It pushes him ever so gently away from the side

It whispers calm words in his ear

"Continue on this path, there is so much more

That your end is not near."

The boy lets go of the burden of his weights

Ignores the shadows' shouting, beckoning

He starts with one foot then another

Till' he starts to break into a running

The wind that continues to push him forward

Even when the shadows push him back

He continues on running, never to a stop

Long far away are his weights in a stack

Finally he come into a stop to take a breath

And sees something tiny ahead

He walks toward till' the thing grows

He remembers what the voice had said

The thing glows bright that isn't blinding

But something that gives hope and light

So majestic, so warm, so kind

It gives him a new sight

Beyond he sees the lone survivors

That has once walked the same trail

The voice that once called to him said,

"Now is just the beginning of your tale."

AN: It was inspired by a very good friend of mine. :)
