"Bitch come on, we'll be late again", my brother and mother said in unison. I rush down stairs crying from the bating I got with my dad., "and don't get in my way again it". Everyday of school, 108 days of verbal abuse, and it only gets worse by the hour. Never getting dinner, I only stare as the rest of the family eats. My mouth waters for the savory art my mom has prepared. "Katrina, are you drooling?
Haven't I told you not to do drool in your bowl". I look down, she was right, I was drooling and pretty bad at that. "I'm-", I was cut off by a slap with the buckle of a belt. "Did I say speak? No! So shut up. Your barking is horrible and you know this", she said returning to the table. I silently cried, it got louder and louder by the hour. "Please, I'm so hungry, can I please have some mother?", I begged. She slapped me with a demon cold hand," stop or you're going outside". I can't stand it, I need to break out. Before I was what I am today, I ran track, cross country, did boxing and other amazing things.
After everyone went to bed I slept for an hour and woke up at ten at night. I thought it was the only time I could sneak out. I creeped from the small dog house downstairs to the kitchen. I looked around and saw no one, I crawled to the kitchen to the open window mom left for a pie to cool it was still there. I opened the window as far as I can and jumped out the window. Feeling my face and body and the air around me, I was free. I ran, I ran fast and non-stop. I was finally free, I ran out in the street and almost got hit, but it was worth the trouble. I got to a old friends yard and slept in their grass for two hours. The two hours turned to three and three turned into twilight. I woke and ran to a shelter, knowing I would need it. Entering it I see my owners looking for me, I dart to a dark alley between a health clinic and high school. I saw a flyer and read out loud "Sw- Sweet Amoris? A place for the heart ached and pained children of... of America. Welcome. Applications in main office", I hid in the alley for the night and went to the school the next day. I saw smiles and warm hugs and I wanted to be a part. I enrolled that day, and got a shower, new clothes, and love. We all had Chemistry, the best class sense ever. I started to come back to reality and I smiled at everyone. "Tsubaki it's your time to shine", I was happy and glad to share my pass with my friends.
