"If you don't see the book you want on the shelf, write it." - the quote that gave me inspiration to write this story
_______________I almost fall again at the attempt of doing the new skateboard trick I saw on TV.
I again, for about the eighth time put my foot on the beginning of the skateboard and one at the end and try flipping the skateboard, jumping and landing successfully on the skateboard but fail miserably.
"Rose! Get inside please for dinner!" my mother shouted.I sigh and walk leaving the skateboard at the backyards floor.
I sit down at the table next to my younger brother Jack, he's fifteen. He has light green eyes he got from my mom while I have my father's greyish, hazel eyes. He also has wavy hair the opposite from my thick curly hair. But we do have our similarities like our thick lips, olive skin tone, small eyes and a firmly sharp jaw.
I see a hamburger and salad on my plate and start digging in.
"So how was school today?" my mom asks me and Jack.
"Okay" "Great" Jack and I say in unison. And of course Jack was the one with the more positive answer.
It's not that I hate school it's just that I don't really like it because unlike Jack school isn't one of the places I can be with friends and socialize. I just have the same boring day of learning, and dealing with a couple of assholes.
You see, Jack is the more social, popular open one in the family while I'm the more, close, less social one in the family. I have people I socialize with on a daily basis and I have my two best friends and I'm great that way.
"Where is dad?" Jack asked.
"Work." Mom answered. My dad owns a couple of stores so he works quite a lot. I barely see him. I think he doesn't have to work so much but he wants to. But even though I get mad I love him to death and I couldn't have wished for a better father or mother.
Just on time I heard the door opening and the noise of car keys. It's my dad. Every time he gets home we hear his keys. I got up quickly and ran to my dad, jumped into his arms and hugged him.
"Hey dad!" I said.
"Hi Rose" he said and kissed the top of my head.
He walked up to Jack and ruffled his hair. And then he walked up to my mom and kissed her on the lips.
My mom got up and gave him food.
" So... I needed to ask you guys something." My dad said.
"okay"
"There's this man who has been working for me for the past couple of months. He's a great worker and we are good friends... he also has a son who I know quite well."
Where is he going with this?
"His son needs somewhere to stay for some time because my friend and his family are going to a different country to visit family because someone in his family passed away. So... I offered his son to stay here because his parents don't want him living alone. But I will not let him stay here without your permission."
"I don't really care it'll be great having another guy here." Jack said.
"How old is he? What room is he going to stay in? Is he old or young? Why isn't he just going with his family? For how long is e staying here?" I asked all these questions. First of all I'm a girl and second of all I'm not social so that means I will probably be highly uncomfortable if he's at his late 20s or something.
"I don't know how old he is exactly but I know he's close to your age. He's going to stay at the guest room upstairs. I can't tell you why he isn't going with his family if you want to know he can answer you. He's going to stay here for about 6 months."
" Fine I don't really care as long as he doesn't get in my way too much and he doesn't bother me." I said.
" Great! Thank you! He will be staying with us from tomorrow" my dad said.
"What? How are you going to tell him this in such short notice...? You knew we were going to agree so you told him before that it's okay right?" I said amused.
" what? Pfft no...." dad said and we all startedlaughing.
