Chapter 1

I could feel it, the vibrations running through the ground that came every time lighting reached down from the heavens to caress the earth. Rain came down in sheets from the onyx clouds that cried to bring life back to the forest like they did every spring.
My paws sunk blissfully into the softened earth. Not being able to help myself I took off leaping into the air and nipping at the water droplets as they fell, till I came upon a mud hole. I dove into the mud and wollowed in it until my crow feather black fur was hidden underneath a thick layer brown sediment.
I laid there letting my fur soak up water and let the rain wash some of the mud off me, basking in one of the few things I enjoy in this world. It was short lived as my sensitive ears picked up the quite paws of another wolf. Rising from my prone position I bared my elongated canines as a low growl came from my throat in a warning.
My growl was returned in force. At the sound of it my wolf instead of tensing up ready for a fight she relaxed. What are you doing, I asked her because she had never reacted in such a way.
I don't know, I just. The wolf that is approaching us feels different then any other, her voice soft and uncertain.
What do you mean, but before she had a chance to reply the biggest wolf I had ever seen emerged from among the trees. It was a male obviously who radiated power so he was quite possibly an alpha. I was an above average wolf bigger then most males but he toward over me being about the average height a human male on two legs. His thick fur coat was a mixture of dark greys with the lightest shades of greys being on his muzzle, belly, and paws so he looked like a timber wolf.
His eyes are what cayght my wolf's and my attention the most, they were the exact opposite of our own. Were ours was the color of the life force that ran threw all animals veins a deadly crimson. His looked as if someone chiseled two perfect orbs from a glacier for his beautiful blue eyes.
As I took notice of all these things I caught the smallest scent from him, which didn't seem possible with all the rain, when it hit my nostrils the most delicious smell flooded in fresh pine, earth, and sweet blackberries.
It was then a silver line like a sliver of moon light connected our two hearts together and I realized who it was standing before me and why the sound of his voice alone could calm my wolf. This was my mate. As realization entered his eyes so did aw and disbelief.
My wolf and I knew this could not be for we could not have a mate. We stood locked in a trance, but as he took a step forward I used all my will power to keep my wolf from leaping forward. I turned and ran with all the speed I could muster from our mate.
A/N
So this is the first chapter and I know it's a little short I plan for the others to be longer, but I hoped you enjoyed it. And the picture is what I used to describe the male.
