Napangiti ako ng mabasa yung message ni Maddie.

While I'm typing my reply, nagulat ako ng biglang bumukas yung pinto.

"Kailan ka pa dumating?"

Bungad ni Daddy ng nakasimangot.

"Good morning, Daddy!"

Bati ko, trying to be casual.

"Kailan ka pa dumating?"

Pag-uulit nya ng tanong, kaya kinabahan na ko.

"Almost midnight?"

Patanong kong sagot because I'm not sure.

"Why did-"

I cut him off and butted in.

"Sorry, Dad. You know naman that I am not ready pa for a serious relationship. Can you just let me live my life muna? And ayokong magpakasal sa taong di ko naman mahal."

Sagot ko and humiga uli at nagtalukbong ng kumot.

"Bea, anak, they are our busi-"

"Business na naman? I don't want to waste my life with someone na kinasama ko lang because of business."

I heard Dad sighed,

Maya maya, sinara na nya yung door. Kaya naman umayos uli ako ng upo and naalala ko na nagtext nga pala si Maddie.

Tumayo na ko para lumabas sa balcony and sniffed the polluted air of Manila.

"Ay ano ba yan!"

Reklamo ko when I sneezed.

"Bea, breakfast is ready..."

Manang said calmly, she is the most calmed person I've ever known.

"Opo, wait lang."

I said and went to the bathroom to fix myself. Sana sa pag-ibig, ganun lang kadali ayusin yung sarili, pupunta ka lang banyo and paglabas mo ayos ka na. Ay, joke! Hehe.

As I was walking downstairs, I heard my Mom's voice,

"She need to learn! Give her a lesson!"

She said and I can sense anger out of her voice.

"Ano bang lesson pa kailangan natin ibigay sakanya? Eh hindi naman matuto-tuto!"

Sagot ni Daddy.

The kitchen grew silent and minutes later Mom finally talked,

"Padala mo sa probinsya! With Manang."

When I heard her suggestion, muntik na kong mahulog sa hagdan.

I walked fast to the kitchen and their attentions diverted to me.

"Province? Duh, no!"

I said and rolled my eyes.

"Saan mo gusto? US? Edi lalo kang natutong tumakas! I want you to go to the province to learn their way of living! Hindi yung puro takas ka lang and puro pasarap sa buhay!"

Medyo tumaas na yung boses ni Mommy kaya naman Dad calmed her down.

"No buts! You go there with Manang! Pack your things up."
