Cato POV
When we walked onto the train Clove was closely following me which I have to admit, made me a little nervous. The first thing i saw was an enormous table filled with food, it had everything there from sandwiches to chocolate cake, strawberries to sausage rolls, it took a lot of effort to not just eat it all up! Next to the table, there was a smaller, marble table filled with drinks of all different colours, most of them looked alcaholic. I recocnised one and saw that it was my mums favourite drink, i then felt a tear in my eye and immediately looked away.
i walked over to where there are some chairs and sit down on a red soft one which was really comfy. Clove sat in the chair oposite me, i quickly smiled at her but she looked away.
"hi, how are you?" i asked already knowing the answer, i was just trying to start a bit of a conversation.
She took a deep breth and replied "i'm fine, thanks" in a small and shakey voice, "how about you?" she asked.
"I'm fine, thanks" i replied and we both knew it was a lie. i saw a small smile creep up on her face and that was the end of the convosation. no that i really got to look at her i saw that she had stunning, deep blue eyes and long, dark brown, wavy hair. She was quite small for her age but still, she looked strong.
Clove POV
I could see Cato staring at me in the corner of my eye. I wonder what he was thinking, probably how much of a mess I looked after all the crying.
A few seconds later, our mentors, Enobaria and Brutus walked in through the automatic doors, I sat up straight and tried to look presentable.
"Well, we've had worse..." Brutus said in a deep voice to Enobaria who nodded in agreement and gestured for me and Cato to stand up. They were walking around us, looking and poking at us as if we were animals, probably looking at our muscles. Brutus seemed satisfied with Cato but I was a whole other story.
"What are your skills" Enobaria said in a confident voice, I felt my self gasp when I saw her razor-sharp teeth.
"Im good with swords" Cato replied instantly.
"How about you?" she nodded her head in my direction.
"I-I'm okay with knifes i guess, and i'm pretty quick." I replied quickly, a bit to quickly if you ask me.
"Hmm" was all she said.
"Well, Cato, you look like your strong but Clove, you could do with a bit of work" Brutus said in an emotionless voice. I was actually quite offended, I didn't think I was that bad. Clearly, Enobaria could see he disappointed look on my face.
"Look," she said "were not here to give you sympathy, were here to help you win the games, we won't lie to you to make you feel better, we will tell you the truth so you get better and right now, the truth is that you need to be trained, you only have a week in he Capitol to be trained, so let's hope you are a quick learner or you will die quickly."
After that, they both took a sandwich and a drink and went back through the doors. I still hadnt got used to acctualyl being a tribute in the games, never mind being told that if i didnt learn fast, i would get killed.
"I"m sure they didn't mean it Clove" Cato said to me reasuringly even though we both knew that they did.
"Lets hope not," i reply "anyway, i was never going to win."
"Don't say that, you have as good a chance as anyone in the arena does at winning, anyway we'll be allies, right?"
"Yes, definitely" i said a bit too enthusiasticly as the thought hasn't really been in my mind, i didn;'t think he would want me on his team.
"Thanks," he said "I'm going to go to sleep now."
"I might go with you... i mean... not with you... but..." I said. Why did I have to say that? Why? We both stood up, he kissed my cheek and said goodnight. I could have sworn I started feeling dizzy at that moment so I got up and went to bed.
Cato POV
I climbed into my bed and I couldn't get the thought out of my head. I just kissed Clove. Well it was only on her cheek but it technically still counts. But the funny thing is, i think she wanted it to happen aswell, she blushed a bit as i bent down to her, hopefully in a good way. Looks like this was going to be a sleepless night of many so i jsut lie down with my eyes open and wait for my thoughts to take me away.
