                                                                                A Few Months Later

Phoenix calmly got out of his cave again to start another day. He had traps around the area that he lived on the ground and by the sea in the form of nets could automatically loop in fish that swam in and then if they struggled then they would smash their skulls against the rocks.

The other trap that he had made was made of a stick that he had stretched against a different rock and when a bird or rabbit tripped the wire, it would zip around and the stone on the other end would strike and break the neck of whatever walked over it if it was barely the height of his shin.

He had a normal intake of rabbit or quail and fish. He had begun drying the food with salt that he got by wringing out seawater. He barely got enough to salt down a single piece of rabbit. This meant that he sometimes spent full days getting salt.

He had also made a Longbow and he had also made a quiver. He also had a full quiver of arrows. He was storing materials for him to be able to make a journey out so he could see if there was any other form of society out their.

He noticed that tomorrow he could explore out for a few days. He went to sleep early. He had to make sure he got up as early as possible. He now knew the climb by groove in the rock. He could do it in the black of night if he needed to.

He vaulted the last few inches of it and he landed with a silent thump. He began following the same river that he had followed on his first day in this world. He hadn't had time because he was too busy surviving to worry about his lack of memories all that much. He noticed that he was nearing the same hill that he had appeared on. The sun was just coming out in full force and he could see his breath. He was well into what he guessed was summer and he saw that he could see berries covering bushes that he passed and he also saw the occasional tree bearing apples.

He easily passed the hill that he had appeared on and he looked around. He saw somebody moving across the area a good hundred yards away. From here he could tell that the person was confused and didn't seem to know where they were.

He quickly looped the string on his bow and he set an arrow on the slack string. He pulled it back and told the stranger "Who are you?"

The stranger froze. Phoenix noticed that he was wearing the same thing that Phoenix had worn when he had started out. Phoenix currently also had a cloak of rabbit skin with assorted feathers lining outside to partially make it so that water wouldn't soak into it.

The man turned around. He had thick black hair and a pale white skin. He had a lopsided grin and he said "I don't know where I am. Could you show me where I am?"

Phoenix pulled back the arrow and he said "Who are you?"

The stranger took a step forward and Phoenix loosed the shaft. It struck the ground and mud flecked outward and the arrow was a good two inches from his foot.

He quickly grabbed another arrow and he said "My next shot will hit you. So, for the last time, who are you?"

"I'm Ray." said Ray "Now where am I?"

"I don't know." said Phoenix.

An hour later they were walking towards where Phoenix's camp was. Phoenix had a hand on his dagger. Although Ray didn't have a weapon,

Ray looked back at him and he said "So where do we go now?"

Phoenix calmly walked by him and he clambered down. When he got to where the mouth of the cave was, he hung on the upper lip of it and swung himself forward. He landed and braced his knees and rolled. The floor was still slick because of rain from the previous night and this made him drop further down.
