".. And then Peter showed up to save the day. Captain Hook and his crew readied their weapons as Peter Pan rose from the side of the ship. Peter flew up and got into the Pronation Tierce position— it's a fencing position, by the way." Mum kept on telling me the continuation of this story, Peter Pan, every single night— except when she's busy with work— to put me at the edge of curiosity of what would happen next. I sometimes ask mum to continue it, but she just kept on telling me that she doesn't remember, but the next night she tells me exactly what will happen in the story. How did I know? Well, it's because I still remember bits of the story that mum told me a year ago. Sometimes she would just say that she's getting sleepy and even tells me that it's already past my bedtime.

Before she left my room, I took off my blanket midway and sat up. "Mum, if Peter Pan comes into my room like what he did to Wendy's, can I come with him?" Mum looked at me for a moment, then smiles. "No, sweetie." I frown at this and asked her why. She smiles sadly at me: her eyebrows furrowed and her lips forming a tight smile that doesn't reach her eyes like her smiles usually would. "I'll miss you if you do." I nod my head carefully, understanding her words clearly.

Mum leaned in and kissed my forehead, she bid me a goodnight, and gave me a bear hug— also known as a tight hug. She gives me Mr. Cuddles for comfort and accompany every time mum leaves the room. She, then, gets off the bed and turned off the light, not before switching on my bedside lamp. The door creaked as she slowly closed my bedroom door. I was now fully alone in my room, but then I saw a human sized shadow passing by my window.

My room is on the second floor.

My heart's pace quickened at the sight that only lasted for about a split second, my eyes are now wide open, and my mouth is slightly agape. I quickly lie down of my bed, covered myself with my warm duvet, and I shut my eyes tightly.

'I was just overthinking, that's all. That shadow was probably a fruit bat or something.' I tried to convince myself, but something deep inside my mind knows that it wasn't just a fruit bat.

The sound of something hitting the window a few times jolted me from my thoughts, making me scream loudly for my mum till she came rushing into my room, looking frantic.
