The Medallion (Book #1 in the 'Camp Demi-God' Series)

Chapter 1 The Beginning

(Chase Speaking)

               *Taps microphone*

                Is this on? Hi, my name is Chase. My sister, Amy, and I have been looking for the people who might have caused the burning of our house and the possible murder of our parents. But first, lets tell you what happened.

               We were just off in the woods, collecting rocks for a project we had to do for school. When we came back, we saw the house in flames and a car speeding down the road far, far, away. When we went to see how the damage was, everything was gone except... a Medallion. The Medallion was pure gold, so it was really heavy since it was made of gold but we could manage it. Also, it had  weird pictures on it of greek or egyptian art on it. I know that because of school, even though I couldn't read it, I felt like i had some connection to it, well I do though since it belongs to my dad. But it's something else... Anyway lets get back to the present time. 

               I found this microphone and recorder in an abandoned car, which ironically had everything we needed to survive and proceed with the task at hand. While we were walking,Amy fell saying that she was tired and hungry, so we found a cave and made camp. Before we went inside, I checked it out for bears or monsters. It looked fine so we went in and put down our bags. I told Amy that I was going to find some sticks for the fire and she started arguing with me that it was too dangerous to go out by myself.

                So I said, "If I'm not going by myself then, do you want to come?".

                "No way am I going out there!" Amy answered.

                 So I just shrugged and headed off.There was really nothing to look for even though its a forest and stuff. All I found were rocks and stuff. And by stuff I mean Enemies. I know what your thinking I haven't really told you much about the "Enemies". Well here's something about the "Enemies"... They're evil! Oh and they also cant see but can hear. So they're like monsters I guess you could say that. So I'm just standing there not moving at all,and well I see my sister coming up the hill I was on. I tried to warn or signal her that there were "Enemies" over here, but just like her naggy self she didn't listen. Well i wasn't talking, just moving my arms around like crazy.

                  "What are you doing?" She asks me

                  Instead of answering i just put my finger to my lip to make the shhhhhhhh sign, but instead of not moving and not talking she goes on ahead and keeps saying that I'm crazy.

                 "There's nothing here, Chase." She tells me

                  I turn around and look at like she said nothing there. She must've seen the questioning look on my face because she said, "Whats wrong?"

                  "Nothing.I thought I just saw Enemies." I answered. Before we went to go and search for more twigs, I look back to see if there were "Enemies" there but when i looked, nothing was there.

                  We returned to the camp with a bunch of twigs to start the fire, but i remembered that we need to get the food ready before we start the fire. Oh and that we needed rocks to keep the fire from spreading into the cave and burn us alive just like what might've happened to our parents.

                  I also remembered that I am not aloud to play with fire [ Oh be quiet Amy ]. So I grabbed all the will I could have and used the match from our backpacks and lit the fire.

                 It was getting late and we were full from all the food we ate. So I told Amy to get some rest and that I would be on first watch. And I thought, for the first time ever since the fire. We might get some sleep. I also wondered, what was this Medallion gonna do to us,  like how is this Medallion that once belonged to my possibly dead father.
