I growled and turned to the noise.
"Show yourself!" I demanded.
"Oh, couldn't you tell who I was?" Alexander asked, stepping from the shadows. I growled and extended my wings, protecting Angelica.
"I did know who it was, thats why I brought this." I said, snapping my fingers and cleaning fluid appeared.
"Leviathans weakness huh." I said. Alexander smirked.
"Yeah, but I also got a weakness of yours." He said, dragging a badly hurt looking wind claw from the shadows. I stepped forward, wanting to go make sure he was okay then stepped back-trying to not show weakness.
"no, he isn't my weakness." I lied, fear trying to edge in my voice as I glanced at Windclaw-hoping he was alive.
" I doubt that, the guy himself was willing to give his own life if I didnt hurt you-once he knew that I knew where you were" He said, gently kicking wind claw who was limp. Oh father I hope he was alive.
"I guess you won't mind if I finished him off then." Alex said, kneeling down beside Windie. I gulped.
"Go ahead." I said fearfully. Alex smirked and took off his mask, ready to bite Windie. I yelled out and tackled the leviathan, pouring the cleaning fluid before using my angel blade to cut its head off. Though I had killed the creature there was a white flash behind me in Windie's direction. I turned to my soulmate.
"Windy!?" I exclaimed, he didn't reply. I kneeled beside him, tears welling in my eyes.
"H-hey Windclaw?!?" I asked. Still no reply, thats when I noticed a faint outline near his back. I leaned closer to try and see it better, it was of a feathered wing and a webbed wing-Windclaw's wings.
"no...." I muttered, the tears holding back from shock and disbelief. He couldn't be dead, he just couldn't.
"Gabe...?" Angelica said, she was still dazed but seemed to slowly be coming out of it. Windclaw still didn't move. I stifled a sob and looked at the blind girl.
"Y-y-yes a-angelica?" I asked. She frowned.
"Whats wrong?" She asked, her acute hearing catching my sadness as I felt the tears start spilling over.
"m-my uh. my soulmate... h-he is laying in front of me..... dead.." I stuttered. Her blue eyes widened.
"What?! I'm sorry." She said sympathetically.
"Its fine... it just... hurts..." I said, everything hurt-and Windclaw was gone so he couldn't make it better.
"I know.... Im sorry.... Perhaps you could untie me and then you can head home with his body? Give him a proper burial? And I'll have to find my own way around, perhaps hire a different helper..." She said.
"hey. ho about you come with me? I will make sure nothing ever hurts you" I told her.
"Come with you? Are you sure? Helping a blind girl is a lot to handle." She explained. I smiled.
"of course!" I said. she smiled faintly
"Okay then." she stood up, the ropes falling, the blind girl somehow had untied him "Then get-your soulmate and we should go home." I nodded and flashed us all home.
