In which Mari Whitmore, a vampire, bumps into Stefan Salvatore. Unknown to Stefan, she's on the run from his brother Damon, who has made it his life mission to kill Mari and any other breathing Whitmore.

"Why are you doing this?" Mari Whitmore cried out in agony at the raven haired stranger. She had come home from the library to complete chaos; a man had gotten in her house and killed everyone inside. Mari's mother, father, and her younger sister. All bleeding out on the floor.
"I made your family a promise a long time ago and I intend to keep it." He leaned in towards her more, twisting the chair leg that was logged in her lower abdomen. "Until every last one of you disgusting Whitmore's are extinct." The attacker pulled away from her and sent a devilish smirk before his eyes turned black with dark veins surrounding them.
"Vampire." Mari weakly muttered. She screamed and tried to fight back when he attacked her neck. Her grip on the man loosened as she began to fade but she heard one more thing before being consumed by darkness.
"Bye bye, little Whitmore."
