Queen of the Hopeless

I am the moon, and my brother the sun
He shines down on all till the day is done
Then I come out with my sisters, the stars
And we try to shine on what all is ours

The trouble is, people are scared of the night
The kids all run, their eyes filled with fright
And I try and I try to keep a comforting glow
But the night is still filled with heartbreak and woe

Why should the sun get the happy days?
With the people and all their adventurous ways
While the moon gets the sorrow?
The people trying to have hope for tomorrow

And though I may have many valiant efforts
The people still walk with wandering minds through their deserts
They look for some water to give them some hope
And find nothing but a downward slope

All I can do is sit and observe
As these people get what they don't deserve
And I can't help but ask myself too
Can I make it through this god awful blue?

One day I finally decide that I can't
And I leave the people with a simple chant

"Don't be like the moon and all of her stars
Look at these people and look at their scars
If someone is hurting, please lend them a hand
And never ever leave them
Stuck in the sand"
