VAMPIRE+VAMPIRE=HUMAN?! Chapter 4
RECAP:
My legs finally gave way and I was falling but before I hit the cold hard marble floor, a pair of strong hands caught me by the waist and carried me. I was still mumbling I hate you as the person who grabbed me carried me up the stairs and into a room. He placed me on the bed and I saw it was Alex. It was beginning to fade to black. "Alex?" I whispered and it went black. I fell into the pure black abyss. The last thing I remembered was feeling Alex's arm around me and it felt good.
I opened my eyes and instantly realised that this was not my bed. It was very comfy but not my bed. I sighed and wondered where I was while I stared at the ceiling. The ceiling was a bit high. It was a dark red colour, the shade of blood. It was my favourite colour and not because I was a vampire. I loved that colour since I was about thirty years old. I decided to get up and find out where I was. I realised I was still wearing the dress I wore the night before. 'Ah crap, the night before' I thought as I remembered what happened at the party.
My dress was damp from all the crying. I did while 'asleep' and I had a massive headache. I knew it wasn't sleep, vampires didn't sleep but I didn't know what to call it! I made my way to the door that looked like it led to the bathroom. It was, I stripped off my dress and stepped into the shower welcoming the cold water. I moaned as it felt good on my skin. As soon as I was clean I walked out of the shower and grabbed a towel to wrap myself. I decided that I had to wear the same dress since I didn't have any clothes there. I put it on and left the room.
I had never been in here before, so I was lost. I decided to walk around and go down the first stair case I saw, I had to wind up downstairs right? I thought. I walked across the wide hall. I decided to check some rooms, but every door I tried was locked. I reached the end of the hall and there stood a big door. It had markings and carvings on it. And I could hear voices on the other side of the door. I was normally very respectful of people's privacy. I was turning around to go back down the hallway when I heard a very familiar voice, "NO! I will not allow it!" Alex screamed. It caught me by surprise. I decided to lean on the door to hear more. "Son, you have to deal with it. I can't keep her alive for you any more. We are running out of supplies. She... she has to go son... unless..." he trailed off. An unfamiliar voice spoke up, "We are not alone." I stood up, my brown eyes wide.
I began running down the hallway. I managed to find the staircase on the other end. I ended up running down. When I reached the down stairs I pretended like I hadn't just run down the stairs for my life. I nodded to the cleaners, "wasuh." I said trying to look cool. I casually strolled toward the kitchen. I could see it from the bottom of the steps. I was still freaking out about being busted. I pulled back my long black hair and entered the kitchen. The kitchen was huge and it had an island with bar chairs that were black. The walls were cream coloured and the cabinets were wooden. But the island was the most beautiful, it had the cooker built in and it was red marble. I felt like I was in a showroom.
I loved cooking, and this was the ultimate kitchen. I sat in the kitchen and closed my eyes, looking back at the past, when my life was perfect and I didn't throw tantrums at parties. I remember when I was twelve and my mum used to tell me that etiquette was part of my life like breathing, 'It's what we ladies do' is what my mum used to say. I smiled at the memory.
"Someone woke up on the right side of the bed today." Alex said. I opened my eyes and saw him smiling at me, his face was a little too close and I backed away on impulse. His light brown face lit up, and he started laughing, "Yo...you... should... see... your... face.... right... now!" he laughed in between words. I frowned as I relaxed. "That's not funny Alex!" I said, angry. I started walking around the kitchen until I was behind him, he was still laughing. "Oh, you want a laugh, I'll give you a laugh!" I screamed and jumped on him, I was on his back screaming. We fell down and I ended up on top of him, we were fake fighting and laughing our heads off. We suddenly stopped and stared into each others eyes; we broke eye contact when I heard a voice just like my mother's.
"WHERE IS SHE? I PROMISE YOU THAT IF SHE IS NOT HERE IN ONE MINUTE, I WILL KILL EVERYONE HERE UNTIL I FIND HER!" she screamed. We heard footsteps as someone ran upstairs. Alex and I kept quiet and stared at each other. We both knew she was dead serious. We scrambled to our feet. 'Oh shit!' I thought as I straightened my dress.
I had never slept out of the house without my mother's permission. I hurried out of the kitchen and made my way to the foyer. My mother was standing at akimbo, her short orange-red hair shining in the sun. Her dark brown eyes betrayed her rage. She was fuming. She had worn a long orange and black top and a pair of black slacks that held her in all the right places. My mother had impeccable taste in clothes.
"What is wrong with you? Young lady you are in big trouble! You scared me. What did I tell you about sleeping out, huh?" she asked worried, checking me over to make sure everything was still intact and working. I sighed, "I'm sorry mum. You said, I should always call but I have a really good excuse, I saw Andrew last night and..." I said trailing off; it still hurt when I said his name. Her facial expression changed into one of sympathy. I looked down remembering my break down. My mother gasped, she was reading my mind. I was ashamed of my outburst.
"I know you must have been upset but proper ladies don't act like that in public." She said. I nodded in agreement, "I know, I'm sorry." I said. She pulled me into a hug. I hugged her back; my mother was always there for me when I needed her. We heard someone clear their throat behind us. We turned around, it was Alex. I smiled at the expression on his face; he looked totally lost and confused. But most of all he looked scared. I laughed out loud.
"It's okay Alex, I won't bite. Thank you for taking care of my daughter, and that good night kiss was a great touch." She said and smiling knowingly, damn her mind reading ways! I thought but I was blushing. I noticed Alex blush too. He quickly recovered, "Your welcome Mrs. Ulaya, thank you." He said. "Would you like something to drink?" he asked after a silent pause. "No. Thank you. We have to get going." She said and we said our goodbyes.
I was sad to have to leave when I was having so much fun and I wanted to find out who they were talking about in that room. 'I guess we have to wait for later.' I thought as I entered the limo. We drove away and I couldn't help but feel the pain rushing back the further away I got from Alex. I had grown to depend on his company. It kept me sane.
Soooo.... what did you think? tell me!! BD
