Meg’s POV-
I could not stand the bus.
At all.
W.E.D was made for the rich and elite, and I was one of the few that did not fit into that category. For four years I’ve had to sit on the bus and listen to the constant taps of cell-phones, and the screams of obnoxious teenage girls.
I pulled my headphones over my head and tuned out. The blaring rock music filled my ears and I nodded my head along to the beat. Suddenly, the bus went over a huge speed-bump and chaos broke loose. Kids went flying and I felt a cold blue liquid seep onto my brand new sweater.
“Oh. My. God.”
That sweater was the only thing I could afford to by over the summer, and it was no ruined by blue… Gatorade?
“Wow. Oh I’m so sorry. That was so stupid of me. Let me get some napkins.”
I pulled my headphones off to stare at this mousey little ginger kid. He looked so awkward, digging through his backpack to find some towels.
Life on the bus returned to normal, just not for me. The kid tossed me a sweatshirt.
“Here, you can wear this to cover the…uh… blue…By the way, I’m Hercules!”
Hercules straightened up and offered is hand. Wow. This kid had the worst social skills I had ever seen.
“Don’t sweat it Wonderboy. The name’s Megara, my friends call me Meg. That is if I had any friends.”
It was like the kid had never seen a girl before. His mouth dropped and I swear that His eyes were about to fall out of his head. He stammered a goodbye and walked away, tripping over some poor freshman’s backpack.
“Thanks for the shirt, Hercules…
I put my headphones back on and closed my eyes. I felt somebody slide in next to me. I could tell who it was without even opening up my eyes
“Buzz off gypsy.”
“Not until you explain the hideous sweatshirt you’re wearing.”
I opened my eyes and glared at Esmeralda, my best friend for as long as I could remember. Taking a deep breath, I began to explain the drama, from getting on the miserable bus, to Hercules and his googley eyes. Esmeralda was hysterical by the end of it.
I smacked her, telling her to shut up, but she just wouldn’t stop. I rolled my eyes, and before I knew it, I saw a sign, welcoming us to campus. I let out sigh. There was no escape from the 50 acre campus, complete with its own downtown area.
I was trapped.
“Welcome home Meg. Welcome home.”
Elsa’s POV-
“Elsa, I cannot walk anymore! My feet are going to fall off!”
Anna dramatically swooned and pretended to collapse on the ground. I didn’t really mind the long walk to campus. Our bags were shipped ahead, so we only had to worry about ourselves. Once we got to the academy, we would be staying in the dorm rooms.
I felt the excitement building within me. New school, new Elsa. Maybe this time I could actually keep my powers hidden! This school would give me, and Anna a chance to grow and make new friends!
Still, our American house was at least 10 miles from the school, and I was starting to understand what Anna was talking about. My aching feet were numb, and they felt like I had attached a block of ice to them.
“Anna, if we take a break we’re going to be late for orientation. I’m sorry, I didn’t realize the walk was so long.” I said.
Then I had an idea. I shot my hand out and I froze the sidewalk in front of us. Instead of walking to school, maybe we could slide there.
I grabbed Anna and I pushed her onto the ice, sending she sliding forward. She was squealing as she tried to keep her balance on the slick surface. I glided after her, effortlessly sailing along the smooth ice. We were a whirlwind of skirts and sandals in the warm Florida air. The farther we skated, the more ice I made. I figured we must have covered three miles before me and Anna fell into a heap
“See,” I told her, “That wasn’t as bad as it could have been.” I was getting up, smoothing out my dress and pulling Anna to her feet. She was smiling, which made me happy. She had been so lonely for so long, I was glad that I could be a part of her life again
“Yeah, but we still have like seven more miles!”
We were going to be so late. I pulled out my cell-phone.
“I’m going to call a cab, Anna. Just hang tight.”
As I was dialing, a white car pulled up to the side of the rode. The windows were tinted, and everything was polished from windshield to hubcap. I could tell that whoever drove this, must have a lot of money. Even though Anna and i were royalty, we didn’t really like to flaunt it.
The back window rolled down a crack, and a voice floated out,
“Elsa? Anna? Hey! Why are you walking? Hop in, we’ll give you a ride!”
I recognized that voice, but I just couldn’t place it. How did they know me and Anna? Obviously, she knew that we were going to W.E.D
Anna walked over and whispered in my ear, “Elsa, who is that?”
I shrugged my shoulders and told Anna to prepare to run.
The window rolled down even further and a blond head poked out.
“Oh! You don’t remember me,” the girl said, “I’m your cousin, Rapunzel!”
