We reach Base within twenty six minutes. Base is what they call Cross Corp’s main building. It’s about six hundred feet high and has forty six floors. It’s a beautiful building with an intricate design. It goes from wide to slim to wide again forming a curvy pattern all the way to the top. Not only that, it also has a dent like impression skewed around it all the way to the top. Like a snake wrapped around a branch or a garland wrapped around a Christmas tree. It’s fascinating the effect that it gives the building. When you’re moving and looking at Base, it gives you the illusion that the building is twirling. Like others skyscrapers, it has crystal windows all over it. The way the windows were tinted makes base look bluer than the sky during the day. The roof reminds me of the top part of a cupcake and it reflects the blue of the sky. I love Base and during the day it’s marvelous, but at night it’s simply magical. With its blue nightlights it’ll entrance you. All other buildings surrounding it will fade into the background.
We park and go to Base immediately. As we enter Base we are greeted very respectfully by the receptionist, who was behind a white sophisticated and modern reception desk, and other employees we saw on our way to the elevator. The elevator’s doors are a translucent white and you could somewhat see the people in it. The doors seem fragile and thin, but are the opposite. We reach the top floor which is where father’s office is, and also the conference room where we’re having today’s meeting. As we exit the elevator we are instantaneously overwhelmed by the many walls and passages that give the feeling of being in a maze. We head straight, then turn right, then left until we reach the conference room to the left side.
I pause at the black greyish doors and sigh before going in. My nerves are on edge, not because of the people that might be inside the room in fact no one should be there right now, but because of the anticipation of what is to come. “Are you ok Alice?” Daniels asks from behind me with nothing but concern in his voice. “I’ll be fine.” The words came out in a whisper and not reassuring at all, but they were true. “Yea you will.” Daniels agreed. When I finally found the will to enter I’m aghast by what I saw, or more like who I saw. There sitting in my spot, on the chair at the head of the long oval table, was Rab White wearing a white tux, the white bunny ears, and a smug face.
“Good evening Mr. White! I believe that’s my spot where you’re sitting.” I say in a pleasant tone and with a smile, even though I like very much to rip him off my chair. “Good evening sweet Alice! I was simply warming it for you. I wouldn’t want you catching a cold.” I seriously don’t want to deal with him right now. He has a way of testing my patience. “I apologize if I sound rude but I have to ask, what exactly are you doing here?” I asked sounding as naïve and innocent as I looked and not irritated at all, which of course I was. “There’s no need for apologies between you and I, Alice, no need for them at all.” He said very theatrically as he stood up and headed my way. He grabbed my hand and brought it to his lips. I smiled somehow hiding the disgust I felt from his touch.
Don’t get me wrong this man is really handsome, and I’ve seen many women flirt or try to get his attention, fawning over him like high school girls. He’s tall, slender with a broad back and long legs, and has this elegant aura about him. Although he has a great body, his face is what’s most attractive about him. His dazzling eyes are out of this world. I mean that literally. I’ve never seen eyes like that before. They’re green and blue, and I don’t mean greenish blue or bluish green, no they’re green and blue not mixed together. It’s like a paint of just those two colors but they’re not faded or blended into each other. The blue is a turquoise and the green is like an emerald green. They’re really vibrant and beautiful. Too bad they look cold and perverse, and that is the reason I hate any type of attention from this man. Honestly as much as he pisses me off, he does scares me a little.
